on a recent drive through eastern Pennsylvania, it was rather windy

and snow flurries almost hid the sun

I really like this, the foreground grain stubble and sliver of land against the snowy sky looks amazing!  I do yearn to see more foreground, but maybe being left wanting more is not such a bad thing!

Sincere Compliments!

Hi Alf,

I do have more foreground for you. The image underwent some reinterpretation once I got home. Initially I had shot it with lots of foreground, but later I wasn't perfectly happy with it. The image looks peaceful, but was freezing cold with a blistering wind, it's located right next to a rather busy highway, I was parked on the shoulder with trucks zipping by, and  breaking through the frozen snow in my tennis shoes wasn't all that much fun either. Oh yes, thanks to a car accident earlier (not me, but the traffic am was all mine) I was already later than I had hoped to be.

So, the image had sort of a difficult birth, and I didn't have much time to work it out in the field. I liked the rows of corn stalks, but later they didn't look so good any more. But, by popular demand, here they are again.

Thank you for your comments, Alf!

Nice Breughel-ish look, excellent use of the mist. Agree that there is not enough foreground.

Many Thanks for allowing me to see the un-cropped  version.  Now that I can make a direct comparison, I would say that although I still like your posted version, I think you may have cropped some of the best elements from the original, the textures of the foreground stalks and snow is almost tangible and puts the viewer right there!

Best Regards

Hi Alf,

the foreground texture has been pushed quite a bit for the posted image (snow and stalks). I am glad you like it.
