Well captured.  There's something quite forlorn about a beach in winter, but from the tracks someone is enjoying the solitude...  Mike

The broken tie on the fence has let it take an interesting lean which you have siezed to turn out this excellent image. How different world we live in;this to me is a summer scene, but that is how it is.

Mike, Thanks for looking and your comment. I can't think of a better word than forlorn for winter beach scenes.

Dick, Thanks for your comment, this is New Jersey on the Raritan Bay. Thanks again.

Laurent, Nice to hear from you and your comment is right on the money, it's all about that leaning fence, it caught my eye. Thank you for the kind words.

Jim, Thank you for looking and commenting.  See you all soon.

Hi Holger,

Well shot with the camera and lens that you use.

There are still a few settings nearby, where one can "sneak to the beach front" by following the narrow path set froth by fences.

Best Regards my friend, Mike

You are right to see this in large view,is an interesting effect like we are right there in your position to see the scene.Fence's line gives a different dimension and looks good.As Laurent said can be also a summer afternoon moment, weather is strange this year.

 best regards

I agree, the beach in winter is a very different place indeed. Devoid of the usual sun worshippers, it takes on a more peaceful non-belligerent aspect and I think you have captured that mood here very well.  The bowed shape of the fence suggests the inclement weather has taken it's toll.

Very well done Holger!

Best Regards

Thank you  all for the kind words and astute observations. Alf your exactly right about the fence, a week earlier there was snow and a storm that did indeed take its toll on this fence. Thanks again to all.

Excellent! The framing is pithy and poetic - really well done - all about edges. i love the tiny bits of sea and the prominence of footprints. j

I do like the muted colours here and the way you've composed the elements.  Works for me in B&W as well.  A bit of tension is nicely introduced by the portion of the fence that has come away from it's support.  I'd like to reach in and push it back.  :-) Thanks to the low contrast light there are no details left unrevealed.  Best, LM.

I see you took this on December 1st Holger. I really like the lines of this image. Enough sand to make one yearn for warmer months, but I am sure this sand is covered in snow and possibly ice by now. Well done Holger!! Very good eye for composition here!

It may be winter but it looks to be a lovely day and a lovely image of it too! I don't recall ever seeing these drift fences here on the west coast, but then I always say that everything I think I know just may be wrong :=} We are more concerned with coastal bluff and beach erosion than with drifting sand or snow.

Reminds me of many winters in Cape Cod.  I think the fences and paths to the beach have a distinct personality....kind of a weariness as they are burdened by the demands of weather.  The buckling fence conveys that sense of fatigue, even though the pink and blue sky suggests a light mood.
