You seem to have awakened from your brief winter hibernation just in time to introduce us to this curious little fellow. Hope you had a happy new year and that 2014 brings you nothing but goodies. Regards, Jack

While in Florida last November, we visited the Busch Wildlife

Sanctuary. The Sanctuary along with the Loxahatchee River District

is dedicated to providing a unique learning experience for adults and

children alike. Here, one can experience up close, Florida Wildlife

within natural ecosystems by touring the facility which includes The

Education Centre and Resource Library, the Outdoor Amphitheatre,

and the Hospital where over 4,000 sick and injured animals are

treated annually. Some visitors have been too injured to leave and

are Permanent Residents. Among those who call the Sanctuary their

permanent home, are the American Bald Eagle, the Florida Panther,

and American Alligator. While walking along the boardwalk, I came

across this very entertaining squirrel who was munching on some

corn that was still hung on some of the Halloween Decorations from

the week before. Fortunately for me, he was more interested in

his 'snack' than 'afraid' of me!! (visits and input is always appreciated,

many thanks, Gail)

Hi Jack! For awhile there, I just could not seem to be able to work on much of anything!! I know you are too familiar with times like those. I think my mind did not want to believe we were back home. I became engrossed in 'unpacking and washing up' and then thoughts of Christmas Projects and some shopping for the Grandchildren occupied my mind. But hopefully my mind will feel less cluttered and I can enjoy being back here on PN. I have a lot of critiques to catch up on. I have visited occasionally but have truly missed everyone's work!!! Many thanks for your visit. We saw a few more exotic species than the Squirrel at the Sanctuary. Hopefully I will have a few of those images to post.

Sincere regards and many thanks for your Best Wishes for the New Year!! ;) Gail

Hi Gail,

It is good to see you posting again.

The camera and lens settings are set to the best that this system can yield here.

Warmest Regards, Mike

Nice capture! This little guy is much like the ones we had when we lived in Montreal and if you have enough peanuts and patience, they will rush over when you call and eat out of your hand......Wish you and yours all the best for the New Year.

Meilleures salutations-Laurent

I don't know how you got this chap to pose for you, but  . . . good job!  Strong image - sharp detail and great point of view.

My best,

It is a nice thing when you are "around" and posting your photos and the narratives that come with them. But life varies and other things than photography have importance too, so it's natural that you didn't post for a while. This little guy is very aware of you. That's for sure. Fun image.

first a happy healthy and interesting new year 2014!

I wish you all the best!

The cute fellow on the picture is a great catch, it's like he's talking to the spectator!

I could never get a photo of these fast moving critters! This one seems to have just spotted you and they are very sensitive on human presence, which means you must have been very fast, faster than a squirrel and that's something, dear Gail!

Best regards

I tried to not move very fast, just be quiet. He did not want to leave the corn he had found, but was still not sure about me!! He stuck around for about 15 minutes!

many thanks for your New Year wishes Ulla. He was very much into his corn 'feed' but when he finally saw me, was very wary, but did not want to give up his spot!!! At one point he did jump over the railing, but didn't go far!
