Looking at the small insert pic of the original I think it looks quite good! It seems to have more in the way of ripples that brings it to life. Of course I can see why you altered it too, the mirror image is something that is always aesthetically pleasing, although perhaps not as realistic as reflections are always darker than the actual subject.   The biggest fault if I may be so bold, is the blown highlights on the birds back.  Though I also hasten to add, its very tricky getting the exposure right on white birds in bright sunshine and something I fail at on a regular basis. One more tiny point that I'm sure you could address, is that the bird appears to be walking out of the image. Though again I can appreciate that you would want to retain the wake of its travel in the ripples.  But I'm sure you could add canvas to the left too, in order to allow the bird space to move into.....if you get my drift.

Great potential with this type of shot!

Best Regards

Alf and Tony, thank you both for your suggestions.  Alf, I just did a point and shoot here so its the reason for the too bright bird. Still a lot to learn! !!   AJ
