alfbailey 3 Posted October 12, 2013 I took this photo in October 2010 and have never seemed to get the processing right. I had another go just recently and it seemed better. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You. Link to comment
mike_palermiti 3 Posted October 12, 2013 Hi Alf,Very scenic, indeed. You might try to repeat such a shot using the 50 mm at F/2.8 or F/4 with a ND filter to force the longer exposure period.Best Regards my friend, Mike Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted October 12, 2013 Is a superb autumn scene that is to the beginning of yellow I think. As in other your photos this one too is so clean and clear.I think I could sit there and admire this few hours.my best regards Link to comment
gajbarker 0 Posted October 12, 2013 Alf, This is really beautiful. The colours are amazing and the detail is terrific with the water projecting like a glass mirror. Congratulations for sure!. Link to comment
ruudalbers 1 Posted October 12, 2013 Really beautiful work with very nice lighting and reflections, Alf! Link to comment

phillips 0 Posted October 12, 2013 This a beautiful scene which I think will make a great large format print. My only suggestion would be to selectively darken a small area of the upper left hand corner of the print. The diagonal lines tended to draw my eyes away from the subject area. Again, congratulations on a wonderful image. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 13, 2013 I'd love nothing better to repeat the shot with settings such as you suggest, but in all honesty it's unlikely that I will encounter this place again under the same conditions. .......But who knows, stranger things have happened. Many Thanks my friend! Alf RADU Thank you so much for your thoughts and observations. Ideally I would have liked to have arrived about 1 hour earlier as there was mist on the water also...........maybe next time. Best Regards Alf GARRY Sincere Thanks for your interest and kind words. I was just getting used to a new lens and with most of the shots I took, I made some very basic mistakes. (forgot to check the histogram) I got lucky with this one though. Best Regards Alf RUUD Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words! Best Regards Alf GREGORY & VERENA Thank you so much, I wasn't sure if I had overdone it! Best Regards Alf PATSY Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words. Best Regards Alf PHIL Very good suggestion, I was actually thinking of adding a vignette which would have a similar effect. I think it is the curve of the hillside which causes the diagonal lines you refer to and the space beyond has a slightly different light. Sincere Thanks for your constructive feedback Phil, much appreciated! Alf Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted October 15, 2013 Alf, As always your landscapes IMHO are perfect or very close to it. Here you have the water perfectly still so the reflection looks as good as the actual terrain. The gold and greens blend beautifully and the composition is fine, what a great place.BR,Holger Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 15, 2013 Thank you so much! I do wish I could encounter this place once again with the same colours etc, it was a perfect moment, but I would do a few things differently if I had another shot at it! I am heading up to Scotland again next month so who knows : - ) Warm Regards Alf Link to comment
luda_luda 0 Posted October 16, 2013 Hi Alf, Outstanding, it is an awesome view, the reflection is just fantastic. This yellows mix with greens contrast very well. Excellent image and composition as always!!!Warmest regards,LuDa Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 17, 2013 Thank you so much! I took this one a few years ago and couldn't really get to grips with processing it until just recently. I'm very pleased you like it. Warm Regards Alf Link to comment
rshenderson 20 Posted October 21, 2013 Composition, colours and detail are very good. The 50/50 split works well here also. Best regards, Bob. Link to comment
w-j-li 0 Posted October 21, 2013 Nice and classic work. Love your landscape design. Perfect reflection of the fall view. Best Regards, Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 22, 2013 Many thanks for your thoughtful feedback, much appreciated. The original did have some foreground included, but it didn't seem to add anything to the image. Best Regards Alf WANGHAN We were very fortunate to find this lake with no wind at all. If we had been just an hour earlier we would have found mist as well. Sincere Thanks & Best Regards Alf Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 24, 2013 I feel I could walk right in to this scene. Just stunning! And I think I'm going to 'borrow' your idea to put (Click for larger view) next to the image title. I've been typing (Larger view available), but it occurred to me that some people may not realize you have to click on the image to enlarge it. So thanks for the idea. Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted October 25, 2013 A PRIME! i'm impressed. it's a little too rich for me, but i like it anyway. epd Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 26, 2013 Yes, I think sometimes people don't realise that the image can be viewed larger. And of course if you have optimized the image at the larger size, which I assume you do, then the image will become much clearer and sharper when viewed large. Many Thanks for your supportive comments Christal, much appreciated! Best Regards Alf JAMIE Ahhh Yes the 50 mm F / 1.8 is a brilliant prime lens and so reasonably priced........not at all like Nikon : - ) Maybe a bit rich for me too, but I confess I wasn't sure if more was less, or less was just boring. Many Thanks Jamie ! BR Alf Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted October 27, 2013 but i have never partaken. the Zeiss 1.4, that's my poison. Perhaps I should trot out the 1.8. 28 is more my mien, though. epd Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 27, 2013 The Zeiss 1.4 sounds like a serious alternative........maybe one day I'll get to try one. BR Alf Link to comment
