Whenever my mind seems to get a little too 'bizzee' I work on

creating an Abstract Design. While I was working on this one, I

turned on some 'soulful' music and soon my mind was totally

involved in all the layers and colors. Some of the songs moved me

very much emotionally - I have a few favorites. Somehow, they are

very 'cleansing' for me. A tear or two came to my eyes, but I did not

stifle them. I just let them flow. All too often we attempt to stifle the

emotions that just need to escape. And to what end? I do not think

having a good cry shows weakness, I think it is very courageous at

times. We cannot be EVERYTHING for everyone. Sometimes we

just need to 'draw inwards' and 'defrag'. Clear out all the clutter of the

soul, so that our 'operating system' will run smoothly once again.

Thanks a lot for your description of your passion...

Your work means a lot after reading your discription.  It encourages me and my wife: we have to move on no mater what, espcecially, the positive move-on.  Best Regards,

Yes, you are right. We do have to move on, no matter what. But there can be 'hiccups' along the way, after all, we ARE only human. Each of us has a 'tipping' point. Thankfully, I find that if I work on a composition, preferably an ABSTRACT, my brain (hopefully both sides) is engrossed enough that 'the world' doesn't 'crowd' me at least for a little while. I suppose I am 'creating' my own Therapy!! I do not worry about being so totally in 'control' of my emotions. I think this can be very unhealthy, and suffocating. How wonderful it is to 'create' and use it as a 'release'. Everyone has their 'load' to carry. How we learn to 'cope' with that 'load' is always personal. Thankfully, Photography and creating in Photoshop and enjoying my music, I think, is a very healthy way to 'unwind'.

Many thanks for your visit and for sharing your thoughts with me Wanghan. ;-) Gail

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts AJ on this composition. While working on it, I saw the 'movement' you spoke of and it really mad me feel I had 'arrived'.

Is an abstract but has a nice symmetry in shape and colors and almost so the origin of this, the flower. Our passion for photography and each one with favorite subjects is indeed a way to be free from every day maybe not all the time good things,to find a balance in mind and soul and to have motivation after this to go forward. As always my best thoughts to you Gail.

Hi Gail,

A magnificent display of beauty.

Now, I need a stained glass copy of this design, mounted and back illuminated for a fantastic wall hanging.

Warmest Regards, Mike

Your narrative demonstrates very clearly how well you understand the nature and purpose of abstraction.  It allows one to escape the confines of the real and to create using whatever parameters one chooses.  (You may want to look at the current Photo of the Week discussion.)

This image has the effect of a maelstrom.  The more I try not to look at the center, the more I am drawn in.  Just brilliant work . . .

My best always,

michael

I love that expression "Defrag the soul"  wise words too!

The day we stop feeling emotion is the day we cease to be human at all.

I still cry at Lassie movies : - )

I love this image, it draws me in and spins me round, it has the same fascination I had when watching a washing machine as a child( try saying that when you've had a glass of wine)

Beautifully creative and inventive!

My husband complains that the older he get the more easily he 'crys'. If a movie has a very sensitive moment or someone singing a beautiful song on TV, the tears start flowing. I think it is good that he is moved that easily. While he was a Police Officer, he had to keep 'it all together' in every situation. I don't know how someone can work that way during a shift, then come home and suddenly be 'normal' when they walk in the door. I am glad you mentioned the movement of the water of the 'washing machine' and not the 'toilet' ;-) Cats are fascinated with that!!!

Always a pleasure to hear what you have to say Alf, always a chuckle mixed in with it all. ;-) many thanks, Gail

I will take a peek at the Photo of the Week discussion. I have not been online a lot lately, have to get my computer in for a major 'tune up' and have had a lot of things to back up, programs to remove etc. Trying to keep track of it all. We have Thanksgiving here this weekend as well, so many family members divided by families, I'm in a bit of a spin!!!

Just like the image!!! Your reference to a maelstrom is good. It reminded me of that myself. Thank you for the very lovely compliment, I appreciate so much your visit.

Warmest regards, Gail

Wouldn't it be great if we could easily 'transform' them into stained glass!!! When we had our Print Gallery, there was another store that did much of our framing for us, and they had a type of 'light box' for their front window and could put a print that was made of some kind of 'film material' and it would illuminate the print, was just beautiful!

Many thanks for your very kind remarks and encouragement. This work is different but I do enjoy it.

Sincere regards, Gail
