alfbailey 3 Posted October 6, 2013 I scratch my head sometimes just trying to choose an appropriate category. "Pets" didn't seem right somehow. This was a point and shoot moment, my wife throwing the Frisbee for our dog Grace. Of course you can guess who had to fetch it........me! Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thanks You. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted October 7, 2013 I love the crispness in this silhouette shot. So glad to hear that you're so well trained! Grace appears to be directing the throw... Over there, Mom, he hasn't hit that puddle yet! ;-)... Mike Link to comment
ruudalbers 1 Posted October 7, 2013 A really beautiful result with very nice lighting, Alf! Link to comment
mike_palermiti 3 Posted October 7, 2013 Hi Alf,Another fine image from the Samsung P&S camera .At least the camera size is smaller enough as to not slow you down for fetching the Frisbee !Take care my friend, Mike Link to comment
lliebl 5 Posted October 7, 2013 I like the horizontal lines of sea and clouds in the background, the partial reflection, the detailed silhouettes, but especially the freeze frame accentuating the motion of her arm caught throwing the frisbee. Nice work. (Point and shoot cameras are highly underrated.) Compliments! ~~~~~L Link to comment
steveshinn 0 Posted October 7, 2013 Not sure where I'd put this either but it certainly belongs at the top of the list. Wonderful composition and action. The compactness of the subject(s) would let you crop this in so many ways. A great calendar shot too. Link to comment
morophaenixmau 22 Posted October 7, 2013 A wonderful idea and a wonderfulx2 result! Ciao, Maurizio. Link to comment
rjmelone 3 Posted October 7, 2013 This is a wonderful expression of art Alf that I think could be even better. Try to straighten the horizon taking the left side down a bit. This will also straighten the shoreline. Crop some of the bottom left of the frame to bring your subject into the ROT. This will place greater emphasis on your subject as the main player on the stage with the water and sand in a more supporting role. Lovely work! Best regards, Rob Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 7, 2013 It's a conspiracy, they are trying to wear me down.........and yes, it's working! : - ) Many Thanks Mike glad you enjoyed it! Best Regards Alf WANGHAN Many Thanks! Best Regards Alf RUUD The point and shoot camera seems to cope surprisingly well with bright light. Thank you for your interest and kind words. Best Regards Alf MIKE P You are quite right, I really would be worn out if I had to run with the backpack and tripod : - ) Auto settings do have their place I suppose when you are busy doing other things. Best Regards my friend! Alf EYSTEIN Many Thanks for your interest and kind words. Truth is, there wasn't that much colour in the colour version, so a conversion seemed like the right thing to do.Best Regards Alf LINDA I think you are quite right, P & S are seriously underrated, such are the technological advances, it won't be long before we see a full frame camera that will fit in a pocket capable of producing RAW files. Many Thanks for your interest and thoughtful feedback, much appreciated! Best Regards Alf STEVE Yeah I already cropped it from landscape to portrait and I suppose there a lot more variables I could consider. Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback, much appreciated! Calender girls eh......best keep that one to myself : - ) Best Regards Alf MAURIZIO Many Thanks! It was pure spontaneity........although I did suggest that they play on the wet sand : - ) Best Regards Alf ROBERT Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions, very much appreciated.By scrolling the image down and lining up the horizon with the edge of the frame, it would seem that it is already straight. Of course the waves may not be straight, but then they have a habit of not conforming to straight lines of any kind : - ) The crop suggestion is a very good and valid one which I shall consider. Cheers Rob! Alf Link to comment

michaellinder 16,612 Posted October 10, 2013 The chase is on! This image is rich in eye candy. The strata of tonality are dazzling. It displays so many different textures, ranging from the wavelets to the crab holes in the sand. And your wife and Grace make for fine silhouettes.I am grateful that you shared this with us.michael Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 10, 2013 Sincere Thanks for your interest and thoughtful feedback. I suppose this is the fairly typical holiday type snap......bright sunshine, point and shoot and opportune moment, but I liked the brightness and the spontaneity. Best Regards Alf Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted October 10, 2013 I agree with Michael, Alf. The processing worked really well for this composition. A wonderful moment recorded (from your vacation???) One day, when you have time, I'd love to see an image of Grace. (Curious, did you get very wet when you had to 'fetch' ?) Link to comment
museebfoto 2 Posted October 11, 2013 Hi AlfThis is a fine example that the camera doesn't matter, the most important is who is stand behind the camera. Really fine silhouette and a nice gray tone. Kind regards Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 11, 2013 Many thanks for your interest and thoughtful comments! Yes, this was just a happy snap from our vacation, the bright reflection from the wet sand looked interesting so I just took the shot.Yes, I did get quite wet when I had to fetch, it was worth it though, I was rewarded with a doggy treat and a pat on the head : - ) I will send you a photo of Grace : - ) Warm Regards Alf MUSEEB Many Thanks for your kind words. I think we miss so many moments simply because we don't have a camera to hand all the time, these little point and shoot cameras go some way to resolving that issue. Best Regards Alf Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks for the reply Alf! I hope Grace wasn't jealous when you got the treat!!! I look forward to receiving a pic of Grace, (at your leisure of course). When I think of you, I quite often how Grace is doing. ;-) Cheers for now, Gail Link to comment

alfbailey 3 Posted October 13, 2013 It's a wonderful coastline (Northumberland) you really need to see it! Many Thanks! Alf Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted October 13, 2013 I like your composition with the shape of the dark shade or wave acting like a kind of trajectory for the Frisbee. Regards, Tibi Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted October 13, 2013 Processed with subtlety and finesse... you lead us along the wet sand to the silhouettes and beyond... pleasurable light management Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 13, 2013 I wish I could claim to have given the composition a lot of thought, but in all honesty it was literally a point and shoot moment.....the bright reflections of the wet sand was the trigger for me to take the shot though.Sincere Thanks Alf RAJAT Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words. There was very little processing to do with this one, just a simple conversion to B & W Best Regards Alf Link to comment
