Large view available. The wind changed the clouds around and covering

the mountain by the second. This was one of a few captures of the

mountain whre it was not covered in clouds. I like the live and dead trees

here as they add to the composition and denonstrate life in an old lava

field. Your comments are valued as always. Larry

This has to be viewed large to fully appreciate the sharpness and textures of the foreground trees.  The smaller thumbnail just doesn't do it justice at all.

One really gets a sense of standing there and watching that swirling cloud. I think its a large indicator of success when an image can put the viewer right in the photographers footsteps as this one does!

Compliments & Best Regards

Thanks for your visits and comments.  I too really like this image.  The majesty of the mountain is surrounded by harsh lava fields in which life a struggle.  The trees, both alive and spinely and dead demonstrate this stuggle of life.  Perhaps there's a philosophical message for so many peoples' struggles too.  I was awed by the textures throuhout this area.  Your saying that you feel as if you are  at the scene is a supreme compliment that I appreciate. Many thanks.  Happy fall to you both.  Larry

Hi Larry-A great capture, very impressive in the large size. You have captured the absolute ruggedness of this place. The swirling threatening clouds swirling overhead of the imposing Mt Washington.Really adding to your image are the dead & living row of evergreens adding to the ruggedness of the scene, amazing how some survived & others perished. Best Wishes-Ross

Hi Ross,  Good to hear from you.  I appreciate your comments.  I really like this image too.  I took many shots as the clouds moved by quite quickly in this windy spot.  I like this too for all the reasons you mentioned.  Curiously, our Star Tribune newspaper today had a feature in the travel section, comparing Toronto and Montreal as travel spots.  Have you been to the islands off shore of Toronto in Lake Ontario?  Happy Spring.  Larry
