I took this a few weeks ago before I went on holiday.......I didn't like it much

at the time but it started to grow on me.

Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You.

Hello Alf, What an outstanding image to come back with. The colors and light are just perfect. Your composition as always is spot on. Can't say enough nice things about this image. Bravo!! By the way this must be viewed larger to really appreciate, which is true of many of your vast landscape images.

Best Regards,

Holger

That's a winner Alf! The contrasting gold against the blue, the building and reflections all add to a very pleasing to the eye composition. Best regards, Rob

I love the simple serenity and you've captured the warm light at just the right time so that it contrasts with the cool water and shadows.  Good stuff...  Mike

Alf, I like this. Perhaps I can guess why it didn't appeal to you as much many of your other images (but correct me if I am wrong). In the NZ there a re a great many beautiful but expansive lakes. It is difficult to make a composition that isn't too much water and not enough of anything else. here you have included a variety of elements and colors which makes the image especially interesting. There are of course photographers who come away with magical images of NZ' scenery. I just can't do it!

Hi Alf,  First light; great color; wonderful simple image.  I think I recall seeing this boat house in at least one other image of yours.  Excellent job.  Your early rising certainly returned dividends in this image.  Happy fall.  Larry

Tranquility is the first word that drop into my mind. Nice composition and colors and a most beautiful landscape.

Crisp and clear, warm and cool colors, a very serene setting.  The lines and light lead the eye to the building.  Overall, a stunning photo.

I liked this shot so much, because of intense contrasting colors, specially very impressive natural blue in it. The pattern of reflection and excellent composition are also points of its strength. There is no way to take it better.  Congratulations.

My best regards to my best friend,

Hamid.

Many thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback.  I am really surprised at the response, I was very unsure about this photo, even though it was dawn the light was very bright and the sky was cloudless.

It's very gratifying to read that you find it pleasing

Best Regards

It was a really bright morning and although I liked the setting, I thought the light was a bit too harsh.  It is most gratifying to read that you like the contrasting colours.

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

Glad you liked it Bill, I was a bit hesitant about posting this one, but it seems quite popular to my surprise.

Many Thanks & Best Regards

I have to admit I didn't like it much when I first processed it, I thought it looked a bit too "contrasty" but then it kind of grew on me, so I thought I'd test it on here and wow! brilliant response!

Many Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback Mike!

You guessed part right!  It was the sky that I didn't like, being cloudless and consequently none to reflect in the water. I also didn't like the brightness but it seems that the contrasts do have appeal.

Sometimes with a large expanse of water, it is worth looking at the scene with thoughts of capturing the landscape within the landscape, or in other words, concentrate on part of the scene that you find appealing, a far bank feature that has nice reflections for example, I have found that this sometimes works.

NZ is a part of the world that I'd love to visit, the scenery ( that I have only witnessed from TV documentaries and photo's) looks breathtaking!

The long haul flight is not appealing though.

Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback, much appreciated!

It was quite a chilled out session, unlike the last time I was here and I got eaten alive by midges!

Many Thanks

A very good memory you have! I think you may have seen this boat house in a B & W wide angle version I posted a while back named "Stony Silence" although it was taken from a slightly different perspective.

I had hoped for some cloud on this occasion, but it was not to be.

Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback, much appreciated!

Cheers Larry!

It is a part of the world where you can walk all day and see very few people, sometimes none, particularly in the early morning hours, so it is most gratifying to read that the sense of tranquillity has been conveyed.

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

I quite liked the composition, but initially I wasn't too keen on the bright light, but I must admit it has grown on me.

Many Thanks for your thoughtful feedback!

As indicated above, I didn't like the image much at all when I first processed it, I thought that the light was a bit harsh, and maybe the image was too "contrasty".  But after having it as my desktop "wallpaper" for a while it kind of grew on me.

Sincere thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback, much appreciated!

Best Regards dear friend!

Lovely light and composition. I can appreciate the grazers in the distance and the small wild flowers in the foreground. Thumbs up!

Hi Alf,

This type of blends of color and wonderful overall setting is at the top of the aesthetically pleasing list my friend.

A nice presentation.

The light was very bright even for such an early start but it seems to have balanced fairly well in Lightroom. Glad you noticed those tiny flowers, they appealed to me too.

Many Thanks Tony!

It's a good place to be, away from the crowds and noise, the only sounds being the birds and the occasional splash of a leaping trout.

Sincere Thanks!

Hi Alf,

Lovely scene. The converging lines, and textures, and contrasts, make this one easy to look at for a long time.

Many Thanks for your thoughts and comments.  Being able to look at an image for a long time, or being able to re-visit the same image several times is always a good sign that an image has more than just passing interest.
