Nicely framed by the two decrepit trees, further lending to the sense that this place is way past its prime.  Is it possible to raise the camera to get the top of the tree on the right, thereby de-centering the house at the same time?  Do you think that would work for you?  (Ideally, it would be done with a tilt/shift lens to keep the house from sloping inward, as it is just beginning to do here.)

The image looks as the theme from an old, spooky novel. The slight vignetting ads to the spooky realism. Your handling of the bw tones is perfect.

Well done.

Hi Stephen-Thanks for your comments & your suggestions. Will go back to the original altho I believe the top of the tree is not captured.Would like to return & have another go at it, but unfortunately this grand old home has been demolished & replaced with streets of same looking homes with postage sized backyards Glad you like the image. Best Regards-Ross

Humble Apologies for my late response, I have been away for a few days!

I did see this before I went away but my broadband was playing up and I didn't get round to posting my comments.

The old house has a great deal of character all by itself, but the gnarled trees that frame the scene add that wicked haunted touch that makes it so much more spooky and appealing.

The B & W is a resounding success! Very well done Ross!

Best Regards

Hi Alf-Thanks very much for your welcome comments, always appreciated. Am very pleased you like my efforts. In adding to our discussions on emotional responses to images I would venture that B&W images tend to be more effective creating feelings of sadness & perhaps even despair than coloured images.Must admit to enjoying creating B&W images again. Am working on a coloured & B&W of the same image to illustrate the difference. Very Best Regards-Ross
