Finally got a good tongue shot of my new chameleon. He seems quicker

than my last one. Thanks to bad timing, I went through 7 mantises

before getting this shot. This will probably be close to the last

shoot I use my spray painted sky hung on the wall for the background.

Thanks.  No, it is mostly crickets.  I only feed him mantises for photos.  I don't know of another insect that will stay where I put it.  Even if crickets did stay, they wouldn't look good for a photo.  Grasshoppers and butterflies would look good, but I don't know how I would get them to stay put for more than a couple of seconds even if I put them in the fridge first to slow them down.

I've reviewed 1000's of images. I never give 7 ratings. Well you just got one from me. Just perfect. You need to write a book. Way to go!

I would suspect the world of mantises doesn't appreciate the sacrifice, but for the art world it was well worth it.  Great image, Scott.

I'm not crazy for the background. But the rest of the photo is spot on. They say action shots should be caught at their peak and that certainly holds true here. Nicely done!
