The weather changed rapidly at Jackson Lake. Hailstones the size of

marbles kept me under the porch roof.

Yeah, looking at that sky I'd be sheltering under the porch too!

Amazing looking sky, I can't help but wonder how it would have looked from the waters edge without the foreground trees.  Not that I would be brave enough to chance it either : - )

Compliments!

Those are mean-looking clouds, and the sweeping motion tells where they are headed.  Yeah, except for the hail, being near the water and perhaps able to zoom in a bit to avoid the cloud gap on the left might have been nice.  I was here for the first time a month or so ago, and it's a fascinating place.  If you live here, you are very fortunate.

Dominick, I'd be under the porch.  Wonderful capture.  You have created a most dramatic image.  I take it that this posting means that you and your camera emerged untinged in this act of nature.  Larry

Larry,  my gear is supposed to be water resistant but I pushed my luck here.  Rain blew in and covered it pretty well, and I have speckled rejects to remind me.  Next time, a lens filter and a rain jacket!

Wow, if this is the calm, I would have been terrified to be in the storm!!! The clouds have that very errie color. I would have been just a bit creeped out by this sight. So glad you were OK, sorry to hear about the equipment. I guess we can never be too careful. Fantastic capture Dominick!!
