I like poppies. The problem photographing red flowers, you can easily over expose the red, witch is turn yellow, and no way back to red.  What I'm noticing in your macro photographs, you don't using polarizing filters, ( or, not paying attention to turn it, to avoid this effect) and you get a lots of bright light reflection, witch the polarizing filter would cut of.  Nice composition, but, the half closed bulb at the right had this shine and ruin your composition. I would cropped of, to get a better undisturbed composition. And the left upper corner, the grass is easily can be removed, to clear the image of obstructing elements.

I think Bela has some good ideas, yet I find your composition quite pleasing. I love Poppies and am more than familiar with the difficulty in photographing them. The background is soft and lovely.
