Venice beauty is very special. A city which is placed completely on   water, with bridges, ships, gondolas, and old vs. new. A treat for all  the senses.

Some  impressions.

Thanks for viewing.

I like your composition.  I have spent lots of time in Italy but never had the opportunity to visit Venice.  Thanks for sharing.

Yes. Taxis are boats.

Gondolas are expensive.

San Marco is splendid when not flooded.

A must to see is Murano: you can find there glass made only there.

Ah, Venice !

Nice perspective.

Congrats !

A classic view of Venice, nicely composed (of course I would expect nothing less from you. lol)

How I envy you, Pnina, jaunting off to one exotic location after another. O for the life of an international artist!

like the basic textures of this shot. The old bridge, the bustling commerce, the sense of movement. I would suggest cropping out the railing in the foregroundand maybe some of the sky so it has mor of a panoramic feel. The railing tells me it isn't level, once that is cropped not sure it needs to be straightened.. There is a nice sense of perspective in the shot.

Thanks a lot for your interesting point of view, and  suggestion. As I know your work and experience I went and tried it, and I upload it for you and others to see.

It is for sure another possibility , but another way of expression.

Here is my point of view and thought while PP it.

The  bar in the FG is dividing the water zone from the land one, and  as there are no signs behind the FG ,the point of view is on the water, understanding that the water space is larger than the land one. The larger  upper sky is a' breathing 'space from the lower very busy water / bridge  activities...

Those were my  compositionwise decisions , for expressing my impressions from Venice in general, and from this corner ( the Rialto bridge) especially.

It will be nice if you will answer me what you think about it  , and it will become a dialogue.

( the level is a tiny correction if needed...;-))

I personally find the new version more pleasing. The bar or railing on the bottom was a major distraction for me, With that gone, you see the whole scene. The leveling is not needed because there is no defined horizon line. The reduced sky seems to make the main scene more visible with a greater feeling of expanse. Did you also do some tonal changes or brightness corrections? the new image seems brighter? That of course could also be the removal of the dark baseline. How do you feel about the change?

Thanks, you really have a point.I do like both versions as each is telling another story.

We learn all the time!  Thats the way to develop, and I like to have a real dialogue like this one. !

I did only cropping as you have suggested did not touch the rest.

The newer version is an improvement. The rail seemed like an over-reach. This newer version makes it a simpler scene and one that is more inviting, at least to this viewer. Without the railing, of course, one wishes for a little more foreground, as it looks a bit closely cropped on the bottom. I think this is a nice post card or tourist type of photo.
