Available in larger view. I decided to convert this image to B&W in Adobe

Camera RAW to achieve a more dramatic image than the plain blue sky

afforded in the color version. I'd appreciate your opinions on how this as a

B&W. Thanks in advance for your visits and comments. Larry

Not sure there is enough contrast between light and dark to pull off a successful B&W.  It's lovely, but also somewhat bland.  I wonder if it was just so bright that your sky looked too bright in the color version.  Sometimes when that happens to me, I can convert it to B&W successfully.  I think this is good (all your stuff is good), but it doesn't pop.....I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

Christal,  I kind of agree with you.  Your candid appraisal is mot helpful.  Truth be told, I was lucky to get a few good images at Zion.  I should not try to force mediocre images into good hopefuls.   Thanks again.  Larry

I think what Christal says is my view as well.  I'd try a darker gradient in the sky, darken both canyon walls, and lighten the river.  That would add contrast, and it would put the viewer's eye on the most important element in the frame, IMO.

I think the image takes on a whole new look when viewed in the larger version.  Much more sharp and better defined. But I do take on board Christal and Stephens points.  For my part I would like to have seen the foreground tree more isolated against the background, though I'm not at all sure how you could have achieved this without standing in the river.  There are some nice touches of light on the trees further long the bank that you might want to accentuate. Stunning location!

Best Regards

Alf

Tony,  Thanks for your visit.  I appreciate your comment, as the light was not good when we visited Zion.  The B&W helps some.  Thanks again.  Larry
