I purchased an Iris to plant in my garden in memory of my Mom 2

years ago. In the Fall I split the plant and I have two areas of my

garden that are quite colorful with these lovely blooms. It has been

too windy to take images outside for the last 4 days, so I decided to

pick some and practice my Macro handholding skills indoors. This

one is called 'Double Your Fun' as it blooms both in the Spring and in

the Fall. (any visits and comments are most welcome, sincere

thanks, Gail)

Twice a year, eh?  Nature plus human ingenuity, no doubt.  A powerful combination.

Hi Gail,

A beautiful "mellow" scene , well shot.

It is good to see you practicing your hand holding skills. Now you next goal is to shoot this scene at 1/25 second using the same lens.

Warmest Regards, Mike

Gail, your creativity discovers always new and splendid images even in the most common photographic subjects. The choice of the focus is perfect, the colors are painted with luminous pastels. Brava!

A very nicely created macro shot of an iris flower. Looking at the entire plant, placing the filaments against the violent petal all the more brought out the beauty of this magnified species. Brilliant!

thank you for those fine words of critique Lester. I must admit though, the background was a piece of Paper. It had a pattern in it, but I managed to find a spot that was just violet.

thank you Jamie for that very kind compliment. I don't know if this may be a Hybrid, or if that name is a 'modern' version of another??

I was so delighted to learn that this one flowers in the Fall as well. In 2012 it was flowering right into November!!! The fragrance is lovely as well. My sincere thanks for your lovely comments.
