alfbailey 3 Posted April 17, 2013 I like the way this image is balanced, the foreground lower RH rocks and the LH upper bridge make for two distinctive points of interest. I can see why the park is so popular, it looks very natural and a great place to escape to within the confines of the city.I wonder how this would have looked without the wind rippling the water, I imagine the reflections would have been interesting.Very well done Michael! GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted April 18, 2013 I have never been to New York City Michael, but I imagine it is so interesting. Central Park has been in so many movies, and that is really the only time I have seen it. Looks like Spring is finally arriving!! Great detail even on the hillsides, that pathway in the upper right is very interesting. Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted April 19, 2013 This image has no shadows and is too flat for my taste. The foreground rock structure is especially annoying as the nearest point seems on the same plain as the farthest. Like a bad painting. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted April 19, 2013 Although your feedback is a bit harsh, I do appreciate it. I'm a bit confused, though. Given the appearance of this lake, where would one expect to find shadows? Regarding the rock structure in question, I wonder if your criticism is based simply on differences in how we perceive it. I see a considerable amount of 3-dimenionality, proceeding front to back. Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted April 19, 2013 Sorry, Michael, I see that I shouldn’t have rushed my comment. I now see that I misspelled “plane”! I have looked at other images in your portfolio and I see that some are processed similarly, with a painting feel to them. It’s a matter of personal preference. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted April 19, 2013 Thanks . . . no apology necessary. One of the reasons photography has such broad appeal is that there are so many different ways of "seeing". Link to comment
