Louise and I were settled under a low shady tree.... ready for lunch, however as our height no longer presented a threat to many of the wild life around this large lake, many of them came over for a look-see as to what we were all about. Any sudden move by us would have them take flight..... I was really pleased with how this one turned out. Using my new "portrait/wedding" lens @135mm... this moorhen just filled the frame.

So, my old adage of "you see what I saw" really applies here (smiles).

The larger view is not too shabby............

Grayham,  This is a very nice nature image.  All of the colors make it stand out.  If I could make one suggestion for change, the image seems to me to be slightly overly sharpened.

Jerry

THanks for your input and concern............... as I mentioned, this was a full frame capture, so (from my original frame) I took out the leaf on the right and ran it through Auto-contrast and auto sharpen, re-size for PN and posted to PN..............

Your guess is as good as mine (smiles)

Best regards

Thanks for your visit and comments............ may I gather from your lack of comment re F-stop that you are happy with my usage of f5.6 at 135mm?

All good my friend........

Best regards

Hi Grayham,

I have tested your zoom lens  along with most of all the other Minolta lens produced.

Based upon a good sample, your zoom lens has a peak performance extending  from wide open to F/5.6 at all focal length settings.

Best Regards my friend, Mike

They truly are a very different looking bird!! Both your images and Louise's are excellent. I mentioned to her that their 'beak' reminds me of one that a 'prehistoric' bird might have.

Excellent capture Grayham!! Glad you enjoyed a relaxed and good 'photo op' picnic!!! ;-) Gail

Nice! Ours aren't nearly as colorful.  The storyline adds a lot to it.

So, did you and Louise share your lunch with the wildlife?

Fine shot (needs to be viewed large) to confirm that your lens delivers good colours and details:) All the best - Hannu

Perfect dof and this new lens is certainly delivering the goods!

The detail is really well captured and the colours are striking.

I never use "Auto contrast" or  auto sharpen"  I know its a quick fix, but it doesn't do justice to fine images like this.

How on earth did you get him to take a bow? : - )

Compliments and Best Regards

Thanks for your comments here.......... Yes, I seldom use the "auto's" as well, however the image looked so good that I thought I'd just consider the smallest of "touches" as a "what if " try-out..... the betterment was so marginal, I left them in.

As for the secret of the pose....... this will cost you many pounds (sterling)... friend or no friend (smiles).

Thanks again.
