OK, here's the start to a new series. The basic concept is: Treesin Winter. Stripped off their leaves their silhouette reveal theircompelling fractal structure. Main element of the photos should be asingle - individual - tree with as little as possible surrounding orcontext. Light conditions should be grey, overcast sky.

This is fruit tree grows beside a small rural road in northernGermany. The land is flat and farmers have fairly large fields. Thissupports separating the tree from any nearby distracting elements andthe overcast sky supported depicting its silhouette.

More to follow...

I had exactly the same idea, in the winter trees are all different but in the summer they look pretty much the same. I too was going to start a similar series and this has inspired me to get on with it.

This is wonderful and I look forward to more of your 'lone tree' images.

Kind regards

Gareth.

Superb! I love the delicate minimalist quality of this image...  I like the starkness and isolation of the tree against the empty field + white sky.

I like the stark element of separation that this communicates. Lone trees hold a certain fascination for me, very often they are stunted and wiithered, or twisted and warped, could it be they just crave the company of other trees : - )

Compliments & Best Regards

This one has a beautiful asymmetry that is as balanced as a Calder mobile.  I see alternately a dancer, and fireworks.  It's odd how a stationary tree brings to mind such kinetic things.  A very nice composition.
