Under Siege

In the waning hour of a cold north coast evening, a colorful shell is about to

One of the scariest images I have ever captured.  The camera was a mere 12 inches from the ebbing surf.

Wow! now that is scary! But I like the result, the sharpness of the grainy sand as the frothing surf approaches is really well rendered.  By the angle of the shadows the sun must have been very low in the sky too, even the edge of the surf caused a shadow!  The crashing waves on the distant rocks offer a good distant focal point and the consequential haze looks good too. I'm wondering if a grad filter might have made the sky a bit more colourful?

It was a hazy, hazy, hazy day.  This is as good as the sky got.  The gradient filter was not helping the mist over the stacks or cliff-face.  Have thought of sistering in a better sky from other files???  Not very honest for a landscape photographer though.
