There is a Wildlife/Bird Habitat called Lynde Shores (along Lake

Ontario) between Whitby and Ajax Ontario that during different times

of year is brimming with activity. My daughter, her children, and I

love to visit there whenever we can. When the birds are migrating,

you will find this place brimming with children and parents, all hoping

to get a glimpse of the beautiful birds that enjoy this habitat, as well

as one of the most favorite characters, the Chipmunks. These cute

little fellows are used to people and enjoy feeding from your hand.

Quite often the birds will fly down and perch on one of the childrens'

hands, and feed. Sunny days are always favorites at Lynde Shores.

This capture was taken in October of 2008. I recall when I was a

child, my parents used to take us children skating on the ice in the

marsh during the Winter. Many species of birds love this spot and

summer there. Herons, Hawks, Bluejays, Cardinals, Chickadees,

Red Winged Blackbirds, Mallard Ducks, Swans, and Canadian

Geesse are just a few of the birds that we have seen there.

Hi Gail, thought I'd pop online to see if there was anything interesting and up popped this gorgeous creature. The photo may be a few years old, but it has everything, composition, sharp detail and beautiful clarity! I just love it. Best regards my friend.

It sounds like an absolute haven for wildlife and Charlie here looks very relaxed and at home!

I love the fabric looking textures you have introduced, it gives the impression that the image has been woven like an intricate tapestry, in fact Charlie looks quite regal sitting there on his timber throne!

Wonderful light and details Gail!

Best Regards

I think 'Charlie' (Chipmunk) is a fine name!!! Glad you enjoyed this composition Alf. They are such cute little creatures and usually enjoyed by all. Fortunaely for me I have not yet come across one that has had a 'mean streak'!! Lynde Shores provides bird feed/popcorn for folks to feed the birds, chipmunks and squireels. But if you really want to get the attention of the 'chippy's' peanuts in the shell are a big treat. It is a lovely place. There have been times when Shauna and the children have gone there and all kinds of birds have been tame enough to feed from the children's hands. Usually when I go, the only birds are Jays, Woodpeckers and Chickadees. The day this image was taken, I got a few shots of a Heron, but it was just too far away to get any great detail with my lens.

Thanks so much for your very kind words of critique Alf, cheers for now, Gail

many thanks Mike for dropping by and sharing your encouraging words of critique. They are cute little guys and many folks find them easily tamed if they have any that visit their cottages during the summer.

I'm glad you liked the texture used and capture of a little animal that is very prevalent in Ontario. They are a bit tamer than squirrels, and I trust them a bit more as well.

I'm glad you enjoyed this capture Louise. I was going to reply the other nite, as I saw your comment just before I was to sign off, but my Pup required my attention, and I knew by the time I was done with her, I would be too tired to be online for any length of time. Many thanks for those very kind words of critique and for the encouragement.

Kind regards, Gail
