Mark Z 371 Posted December 10, 2012 A very nice, simple composition. The single branch curving to the upper right corner is key to the aesthetic appeal. I may have tried printing it with the very darkest values a bit blacker. Link to comment

espector 0 Posted December 11, 2012 I love winter shots where I can't tell if the image is truly a monochrome. I don't think this one is, because I see hints of green and brown on the tree trunks. The composition is nicely balanced and the layering of the trees and tones from front to back is lovely. My favorite detail would be the frost-covered twigs in the foreground. Link to comment

WJBrowning 0 Posted December 11, 2012 Less is more in this shot. Love the contrast in tones. A very atmospheric shot that makes you feel the cold. Best wishes William. Link to comment

gregoryl 0 Posted December 11, 2012 HelloA very pleasing image. I see from your portfolio you have an affinity for trees. A nicely framed image and change in tones gives a nice feeling of depth. Good details. I like the subtle colour but that is also the small nitpick for me. The colours on the lower trunk while I realize some may be from lichen looks mottled and like colour noise from the way it's distributed. Other than that a lovely image.RegardsGreg Link to comment

donev1 713 Posted December 11, 2012 Dear friends, thank you for the interesting comments. I agree with Gregory for some color noise – I did some corrections, but still this noise exists. It is a risk to leave such an image in color, but this way is better than in BW. For me, in BW looks more flat. Thank you again. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted December 12, 2012 I really like this composition, with details in the foreground and fog-obscured larger forms in the background. That just looks like moss- or lichens-covered rough bark on the lowest edge of the nearest tree -- doesn't look like noise at all to my eyes. Link to comment
