Abnormal rock formation abound at the Devil's Gold Course in Death Valley

NP. These are hardened salt crystal as the lake evaporated over a period

of time. Thanks you for your visit.

I'm loving the composition here and the tonal range is wonderful from cool rock grey:s to the wonderful sky.

Only question is about the sharpness of focus around the first rock formation, is it bit soft or is that tricks done by compression? Simply since this is one of those few places where I would love to see "crisp sharp" print, due to all those lovely details.

Very nicely captured. I love the depth of field that stretches from the very front of the frame to the end. a lovely picture.

Good angle and perspective to capture the amazing rock formations, The terrain would be a great setting for a Sci Fi movie!  It reminds of some of the Limestone Pavements we get in the UK, great to photograph, dangerous to walk amongst!

Very well done Lester!

Best Regards

I've been here a few times and I understand how difficult it is to come away with a good image.  My experience is that while the eye is amazed the camera doesn't get it.  I think it's because there isn't any stand-out formation in this area, there are no leading lines, and the color is drab.  So, unfortunately, the fore- and mid-grounds become mush as the eye can't find a path to get through to the background, which seems very disconnected.

Lester,  You did an excellent job of conveying the ruggedness of this "golf course."  The light helps to emphasize the texture, and the dramatic distant sky and mountains offer scale and space.  Nice job.  Larry

Very creative.  We have seen this place but we never thought we could do it this way.  Very good.  Best Regards,

It is hard to fathom such a vast area covered in these rock formations Lester. I am enjoying these images from your time there. There must have been so many amazing new sights to discover.
