This image is of a penumbral eclipse on Nov 28 2012, taken 30 min

after the point of greatest eclipse. Taken with Canon SX50HS 1200mm

focal length, handheld shot 1/800s f/6.5 ISO 400 processed with

Rawtherapee and Gimp.

amazing.  it's good that you kept the aperture wide open with so many pixels on such a small sensor.  f/6.5 pushes the diffraction limit, i'm afraid.  if you ever do this again, it would be interesting to try one at 1200-mm-equivalent and one at 600-mm-equivalent, wide open as well.  you could then downsample the 1200 to be the same resolution as the 600, and see which was sharper.  you might be surprised.  best, jamie
