Yeah, I would have liked to have had a male bufflehead duck gently

breaking the reflections at this moment, but we have to try to make the

best of what's given to us. Your comments and suggestions will be greatly

appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Stephen:

A wonderful, peaceful and colorful image, with the great composition and sensibility that characterizes your work. Congratulations and thanks for sharing such high quality photography.

The four bands of texture and colour are absolutely mesmerising. I have heard the terminology "eye candy" used in the past, and this seems to epitomise that expression.  There is nothing I can suggest that would make this any better, but at the risk of spoiling the superb balance of the image I'm going to be greedy and ask for more of the reflections!

Compliments!

Stephen,

The separation between the trees, and the mountain wall is stunning. Note how the tree leaves contribute to the overall quality of light on everything else. There are four elements contributing to the 3d effect here. 1-The water, 2- The reeds, 3- The trees, 4- The mountain, and you lined in up perfectly. Good stuff!

Daniel, Alf, Pepa, and Don, thanks for your comments.  As I've said before, I live in the middle of a gigantic wheat field, and to find compositions I like is a challenge.  While I like the layers and colors here, I was serious about having a duck swimming through the reflection, just to add a more dynamic element to the photo.

Alf, the framing was intentional on the top (just enough breathing room for the trees), right (to avoid other undesirable trees), and left (to include the snag), and I took in as much of the reflection that this focal length would allow.  There is a bit more reflection below, but I felt the "cost" (including the placement of the water line) of grabbing that additional reflection would detract more than add to the photo.

Stephen,  The beauty of yellow dotted with green always look so good together and to have those colors reflected in water is even better. I really like this image, the darker hill side in the back to enhance the yellow trees,  the grass lining the edge of the water and the shimmering colors in the water makes for a eye pleasing scene.  Best Regards.

Sherry, thanks for your comment.  This is one of the very few areas in my part of the state where aesthetic scenes like this can be found.
