Bisti Badlands is in New Mexico, US. It is very unique and there are much

less people there even during the holiday seasons. You could get the

detailed information online.

Thanks for your time and your comments. Best Regards,

Wonderful rock formations, and nice to have the moon in the shot. This really cries out though for a much more manual control of light to actually present a better image and something more akin to what the eye would see. Right now, the underside of the rock looks almost like a black blob in contrast to the sky around it and the moon is an overexposed white blob.

If you have the opportunity to return to this location, think about the timing relative to the moon - can you get it closer to the wonderful structure of rock for a tighter crop? Can you get there at night and create an astro-photography shot highlighting the rock with light painting. I just have a feeling that you can create a really compelling image from this location, but what you've managed here is really an average shot.

Wanghan, such amazing shapes among the rocks in this area.  I don't mind the dark underside of the topmost rock (the flying bird).  Perhaps it's a carryover from my film days, but this looks natural to my eye.  I'd hate to have to do HDR on all images like this.  Regarding the moon, I'd rather see it eliminated; the small, white dot just looks out of place.

BTW, your landscapes of the Bisti Badlands have convinced me to visit this area this winter, providing it is accessible during the winter months.  Cold temperatures don't bother me, but water on clay soils is a combination I will avoid.  We'll see.

Amazing rock formations, it looks like a Archaeopteryx has just landed!

The underside of the rock would naturally look dark given the direction of the prevailing light, and doesn't detract from the image in my opinion. The colours also look natural and the image is sharp and well detailed. As the "bird" formation seems to be pointing to the left giving the perception of a direction, I wonder if more space to the left would have allowed and area for the "bird" to fly into.

Very well done Wanghan!

Best Regards

Alf

Very striking dark rock form Wanghan! Looks like a flying something to me. Rock below has wonderful color and texture. Colors in the sky are very nice also.

Hi Wanghan,

A nice scenic view.

For me, the large f-number use on shorter focal length lens always limits the definition and when seen at smaller sizes (like here) works best.

Best Regards, Mike
