I was very tired but excited to see the lakes and the mountains

around at the All Soul's Alpine Route. If you go there, take the All

Soul's Alpine Rounte by the first choice. It is worth.

Thanks for your time and your comments. Best Regards,

Beautiful!  I agree the blues appear a bit strong, but at the high elevations they ARE saturated to the eye.

Jack and Dominick,

You are right.  The blue is too strong.  I used a polarizer filter and adjusted it at the strongest in order to make the lakes darker.  I made a mistake.  I will try to void using the polerizer if possible.  Thanks for your help and very good advise.  Best Regards,

I too have used a Polarizer in the past to the detriment of a photograph, particularly where there are clear blue skys, but its all a learning curve, and needless to say I don't use them any longer in those conditions.  But that aside the perspective is wonderful and you can see the potential of the image.  I just wonder also if there could be more detail revealed from the deep shadowed area on the lower right of the image?

Best Regards

My brother lives in Canmore and I have visited twice but that was over 20 years ago. I have not seen this spot, it is magnificent, the colour of the water-beautiful and colours in the mountains! Beautiful capture!

A striking shot of a striking scene. Others have commented on the saturation, but this image has much going for it. I have one shot posted from high altitudes in Yoho Park and I did not use a polarizer. It's a snow scene (though shot in September) and the blue in the sky is very, very blue.

Live in Calgary, travel the Rockies often... then I look in here & see great photos of spots I must have unknowingly gone past many times.  Will have to find some of these priceless bits of heaven on earth, that are right in my own backyard.  I'll watch for the exit to this lake next time I'm by that way.

We paint the water in lakes in the Rockies, extra blue.  It helps the tourist trade... looks good on calendars & post cards.  Our lakes glow (bright blue) in the dark so they look extra bright in the daytime.

It's a majestic photo, yeeesh.

Cheers,
Drew

Wanghan,  I like this image too, but not as much as your others from Lake O'Hara.   It's the dark shadows that detract from the image a bit for me.  I too use a polarizing filter.  I'd like to hear more from Alf about its deterrents.  Larry

I may not fully accept the strong colors saturation, but this one makes me feel different about it!

Best regards Wanghan!

A bit oversatured, I agree. But apart from that this is a really stunning shot! Well done!

Best regards,

Alain
