aarkp 2 Posted September 14, 2012 Love this shot but the processing is a great value-addition... oozes empathy. Outstanding and emotive work, Len.P.S. Sporting of you to mention the street ;>) Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 14, 2012 Thanks for your thoughts on this one. It is another view of the 'wall' of muskoxen seen in this shot. Taken in 2004 and only recently 'rediscovered' by me. Love your pun on my sportsmanship. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 16, 2012 The taxidermists deserve the glory. I simply arranged the composition. Best, LM. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted September 16, 2012 After clicking the link to your previous posting, I can now appreciate fully what I 'm viewing. But first of all some credit must go to the store for going to such lenghs to present this amazing display!Your take on it is also very well portrayed, the sense of cold harsh winter is well communicated. I wouldn't have guessed its origins as a store if you hadn't have disclosed it. Very honest upright ciitizen that you are Len!Compliments! Alf Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks for taking the time & for your thoughts. Deception is never my intention in any of my shots. Most times I 'fess up on the page or at least in the 'Details', which some viewers forget to check. Yah, the store and their suppliers of stuffed animals are the unsung heros here. I'm not a hunter or fisherman so their displays of that stuff are wasted on me. I'm in it simply for the photos of the most excellent displays of the animals. Best, LM. Link to comment
sagnikroy 0 Posted September 26, 2012 Great shot Len, looks wonderful in B&W. The calf looks adorable, so vulnerable yet so well protected by the watchful mother !Best regards.Sagnik Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 26, 2012 Thanks for your thoughts on this recently 'discovered' oldie. I thought the B&W was the superior image. I was most pleased with the result, especially since it was taken on Fuji 800 ISO colour film. That stuff was pretty good. Yes, that 'wall' of sharp horns is a deterrent to any wolf or other predator that had aspirations of lunching on the little one. Best, LM. Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 30, 2012 I felt a little sheepish when I realized this wasn't real. The fact that it looks that way is a testament to (first) the amazing art of taxidermy and (second) to your ability to shoot it in such a way to give the viewer the impression that it's real. We've been to Cabela's several times, so I know these displays. You've done a remarkable job at keeping the tell-tale signs of the retail store out of the shots. This one and the 'Wolf and Muskox' are my favorites, but the Deer is also very realistic. Nice series and good work. Hope you had a good holiday, and all the best to you and your family in 2013. LenMarriott 9 Posted December 30, 2012 Thanks for the validation. I was beginning to think I was the only photographer to have visited the place. I think this is the first time I've known any other photographer who has been to Cabela's. Yah, there were times when I had to clone out one of those little placards which identify the set. Most of my success in dealing with the store backgrounds is in the very tight cropping. And I never miss an opportunity to give kudos to the taxidermy teams. The posing is so lifelike, even to the chase. Back at you with good wishes for 2013. Best, LM. Link to comment
