I have not seen the other version but I really like the contemplative quality of the image. I did however felt that the dark shore into the distance and the distinct separation of the water from the horizon was getting in the way of me from truly submerging in your wonderful image. So I took the liberty of turning into how I want to look at it.

A most elegant and refined image. All photos are subject to critique. That is fairly easy. Precisely because of that, I tend to respect the photographer's mind when: a) taking the image and framing it, and b)port-processing it. You left the distant shore for a reason, whichever it is. In my opinion, it lends some reference and context, a sense of depth and distance, and even desolation, adding to a more natural look to the lonely, gray environment. Even the very small image cut-off from the distant shore lends an additional element of mystery, ruined by the cloning suggested. A great photograph. Congratulations.

It doesn't appear to need any extra sharpening, the silhouetted groynes appear sharp enough. The wet sand and long exposure are almost seamless and convey a mystic sedentary atmosphere that I like. I also like the evidence of a horizon and a sense of distant shores that it brings from the right.
