While I like the composition, I can't reconcile the level of light in different parts of the scene.  It's hard to imagine this much light on the foreground with these kinds of clouds overhead.  My strong guess is this flattening of the light is the result of HDR processing.

Thanks for your comments Liz and Stephen. You are right it is a HDR shot on a night of incredible changing light.

i am not happy for the human presence/disorder on the foreground but still it is a very good photo overall. it is a very good approach, composition, and those clouds are really fantastic, give a special mood. well done.

Very appealing image. When I see a scene like this, it is very easy for me to come away with 20 or more images (some bracketed, etc). While I still like the image I can see Zsolt's perspective because there are many small boats and at times it can seem like clutter. For my 2nd shot (if feasible) I would have gone right down to that large central boat and made it the foreground interest in Portrait mode to get lots of the sky and excluding most of the boats on the right side.  My crop is an approximation of what I was thinking.

HDR usually falls into two basic categories for me, natural and surreal. And I'd say this one belongs in the latter category, but thats not to say it isn't attractive. It has a painterly quality that makes the most of the dramatic cloud and squalls in the distance. As Tony notes there are a multitude of possible crops and angles, but the larger view of the whole scene tells a story and allows for a greater impact of those menacing clouds.

Best Regards
