bosshogg 4 Posted July 21, 2012 Fury and flame, wrapped up into an aesthetically pleasing image. Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted July 22, 2012 To me, it's aesthetically pleasing for about a second because of the colors, the movement, the created fringe textures on bottom and nice framing; it radiates a warm feeling one might have at a campfire or in front of a hearth, but shortly I feel unease, as I see what look like feet, and from what I read in the newspaper in Israel -- twice of self-immolation -- it becomes what could be terrifying. pnital 36 Posted July 23, 2012 Richard, Dave and Donna Donna, special thanks for your real feelings and especially as ususal very eloquently written. , which is importent. I think that when evaluating a photo ,we bring in, all the" baggage" of our human being... like history, education, , literature, different fine arts faith, religion and even... politique...I don't want to influence your impression, but I really would like to let you know, and have my point of view . I think of this one as my second best abstract dance movement!( the first was the green/red movement, please see the file ,I have arranged it one near the other to have a better connection). If you look at the first one, it is an abstract but the feeling of the leg gives it the dance correlation. This one for me without the legs will be as you wrote a flame in a camp, the legs again are the correlation to the dance movement, as dance movement is first and for all starts and needs( between other things of course) legs movement. So,if there will be again a juried competition at this dance center in the USA,I for sure will send it to compete!...Donna, Iknow that you are inviolved in your heart with what is going on here, but I look at this one as a dance photo... What do you think of my point of view? ..;-))(I hope to get some more evaluation in the coming days)... Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted July 23, 2012 Pnina, A truly inspire result you have achieved here, among your very best in my opinion. The image is well balanced on many levels. The tonality graduates from black to white through a delicious array of warm browns, reds and yellows. The glint of the highlights produce wonderful sharp edged wedges of light which balance the softness of many of the other shapes within the frame. The two upright columns and the horizontal line of light within the reflection upon the floor, create a sort of open ended box which struggles to contain the energy of the dance, an energy which ultimately spills out and rises upwards. This image is all about energy, the energy of dance and the energy of life. Although I can clearly see the feet at the bottom of the frame I find myself relating to this photo in a more abstract way than I do with many of your other dance photos where I often try to figure out the motion and the plot. Here I am consumed by the visual beauty and the technical prowess and I am content to let the story fall away. Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted July 23, 2012 I like this painting-like result, it has both dynamics and balance and the palette is worthy of a great colorist (Delacroix?).Regards, Tibi Link to comment

Tibi, great to see you here again( another trip to space? I will check ....;-) Mari, well the black cat was a male.... so my theory was right...
