We finally got a repreive from the suffocating heat and humidity, so I

gladly went out into the backyard to see what I could find. Among the

few insects I found about 5 flys that kept coming back to a wooden

flower box that is in need of a new coat of stain. One fly was just

laying there, I thought it was injured and figured 'Great, it won't

move!!!" But I soon found out why the others were gathering. This

one lucky 'fellow' jumped aboard. At first things seemed to be going

Okay, but then the one who was on the 'receiving end' (and probably

didn't even get to GO OUT TO DINNER FIRST ! ) started to move,

and seemed to want this 'carry on' OFF !!! Needless to say, he must

have been determined to hang around for a 'ciggy and drink'

afterwards!!! I'm finding the insect world more and more interesting

all the time! (your visits are most appreciated, Gail)

The is one amazing shot! I love where you put the focus, and how the wings are blurred. Nice post-process also, just enough colour. I would let go of the caption, personally. Because as you say, it is obvious and does not need an explanation! cheers!

Many thanks for your visit and those enthusiastic words of critique. I should have mentioned that I entered this one in the 'Humour' Category. That is why I put the caption on. I wanted it to be a little more 'jovial' but I suppose I do not need the caption. I thought it comical that the female just did not seem to want to be entertaining the 'suitor', and in my mind, compared that to 'us' women when 'NO' just has not been 'heart';-) Kind regards, Gail

Great processing and amusing write up........it would appear that even flies get headaches : - )

Cheers Gail!

I wondered what you would say Alf!!!!! I was surprised to learn that even insects are very fussy with whom they mate with - the 'gene pool' stuff!!! They even have their little rituals. (did you know that Mosquitoes 'sing' to each other???)

Again, I refuse to enlarge it, but the photo is well composed and technically very good. Six (not sex)

Best regards
