I can only imagine the depth of emotion you must have felt whilst watching. Under the circumstances you have done very well to have the presence of mind to take such telling photographs. It is certainly a measure of the skill of writers and performers to evoke such emotion, and of the photographer to capture it. Great lighting and detail Jorge!

Best Regards

Alf

I can't imagine what life must have been like under Communism for you and am glad that you are out of that deflating, frustrating system.   In this pic, the title catches my attention, as Ruth is an amazing character that could teach all of us lessons on what it means to stick with someone in their times of need.  Interesting to use this character for a play that touches the Holocaust.  Your lighting and what you capture are great and intriguing.  Congratulations.  For the performance, it is curious for I see approximations of lighting the Shabbat candles highly influenced by other cultures -- not a typical size of candle, not the type of dress I would imagine was worn in Poland, and the positioning of her hands is off as well.  But,     Ruth is partially about intermarriage and then conversion, and there would be customs of the Moabites in her life.  So an influenced practice of Judaism seems appropriate in that light.

The Spanish-Jewish connection has wonderful years and each side flowering arts and other disciplines.  There are many Spanish Catholics in the world who are really Jews but don't know it because they had to hide it with the Inquisition since 1492; with hundreds of years passed this secret remains buried.

Like you, I find this period in history mesmerizing, partially because we are still living in its wake.  I don't know if people realize this. From actions of I have seen, we haven't learned lessons of what it means to be a human being.

Thanks, Jorge

This is a play worth seeing because of the defferent/interesting connection it makes to Judaism communism and I get the impressions of dictatorships in general!  The relation between people get through to the viewer  through your photos.
