Exquisite fine detail and colouring, it really has to be seen large to fully appreciate! The softness of the backdrop and rippled reflection also adds to the aesthetics of this fine image. Very well done Richard!

Best Regards

More like "wooden duck"........ looks almost hand painted. The larger view shows beautiful colour and definition and the water movement almost has an oily texture to it.

Lovely capture........ well done

Exceptionally brilliant color management.  The crisp details and marvelous reflections have made the image different.  This is a composition with a perfectly revealing backdrop. Really fantastic in larger view. Regards.

Wonderful bird, great photo. What part of the country is it?

we don't see them here.  Have a great day.

Hard to take a bad picture of such a striking animal. That doesn't take anything away from your great photo, though!

A hint of motion would possibly improve the picture. It may be a wee bit static.

Very nice light quality resulting in nice details throughout the bird.  Like the body angle and the head angle.  Shows off most of its markings.

I would have to argue that to have movement in the duck could only serve to diminish the striking clarity of the feathers and the intricate pattern they've followed in growing just as they are! BTW, it can also be argued that the duck *is* in motion, else the surrounding water would be still and clearly is not.

What I think is possibly described about this photo as "unreal" owes to the completely striking, sharp, distinct, intricate colors and patterns of the feathers and the nearly painted look of the feather shapes and colors designs. Lots of possible angles, distances, lighting, shutter speed, perspective and other factors could have been tried, but it'd still be an extraordinarily marked and strikingly colored bird on wet, but otherwise lackluster greenish-brown background!

Details aside, I think this is an outstanding shot that really pops.

The woodduck is my favorite, and in my opinion, the most photogenic duck of all. To get all of the colors the exposure has to be close to perfect, as usual you did a great job! CONGRATS 7+, keep shootin`.

An excellent capture Richard. I didn't reallize this was the name of this duck, and was a bit perplexed at first, did people think it was real or not?? So I checked it out on the Internest and was much relieved!

Nice capture, excellent colour!
