I love the sharpness and clarity of detail against the grasses. The full wingspread looks wonderful! I kind of wish the old tree wasn't there, but thats just an observation and no criticism of the photograph, its excellent!

Hi Geoge, I agree with Alf's observations about this shot, but I love the old tree and am amazed how the coloring of Owl and tree stump are so similar. This shot really caught my eye.

There's lots of agreement that this is a great shot -- and it truly is. On the question of the stump, I weigh in with those who like it there. Artistically, the tones blend seamlessly. And the stump gives the shot context as an environmental portrait -- it's the focus for the owl.
