Superb clarity and composition, the human element allowing an appreciation of the scale and those fantastic mountains.  Lovely reflections too, it osn't often you get a lake so still and calm. Obviously there are some deep shadows to the left because of the time of day and bright conditions, but i don't think they are excessive and certainly don't spoil the wonderful ambiance of the scene.

Compliments

Alf,   The human element here is my best element, my wife, Alice.  We were fortunate to get to this lake early enough in the morning to enjoy the still water.  I am quite pleased with how this came out too.  Thanks, Alf.  Larry

Alice shooting Gunn is a rhyming pun, but catching this exquisite still

lake and its reflections was a treat of nature. Please share your

comments that are appreciated as always. Larry

Alf has said it all.............. I too like the "fall" of light, from dark to light across the frame.... highlighting the time of day.

I once read a comment by a famous landscape photographer who said that every landscape should contain a person, to give the view perspective. I now see what he meant.

Great capture........ well done.

Best regards

Thanks, Grayham.  I agree about the human element, but - in addition to the human interest and scaling benefits - my motives were purely personal.  I wanted my wife to be in the image and wanted to capture her as a photographer in action.  Thanks for the great compliments.   Larry

Joao,   Thanks for looking at this image.   We were lucky to get five minutes in this spot without other tourists.  Lake Gunn is in Fiordland National Park on the way to Milford Sound.  I too am pretty pleased with this image.  We got here early enough to capture really nice reflections. Thanks again.  Best to you. Larry

Hi Larry-A beautiful mirror image of a rugged landscape. What struck me was how the mountains drop straight down to the lake. well done.Have completed a collection of images of the rail trip from Skagway to Bennett Lake. You can access them at my web page & are in the first file labelled WP&YR. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have , it brought back great memories of our trip. Best Regards-Ross

I agree with Grayham, Larry, Alf does critique this capture best. Spectacular. I know New Zealand and the Canadian Rockies are much different, but this shot does remind me of the Rockies surrounding Banff, Lake Louise. But when I see the view from Milford Sound, it is very different indeed. Very good in camera and editing work Larry. Warm regards, Gail

About my photo "Mill":In the Orbetello(Tuscany) lagoon in 17th century there are 9 mills. The mills worked taking advantage of the water motion caused by the tides. Thanks for your comment,regards.Giuseppe.

Giuseppe,  Thanks for your visit and comment.  This is one of my favorite images from out New Zealand trip.  The mills in Tuscany are most interesting.  Larry
