I used a narrow depth of field to focus on the yellow tips rather than the entire

flower.

The deep reds and the brilliant yellow stamens that glow like gold is such a great idea. Really very beautiful.  Best Regards,  Sherry

major dom,  forgot to leave a suggestion.  think a band of black around this image would really look good.

Roger, thanks for the suggestion.   That's a technique I've not used, but would like to try.  Quick tutorial?

Typifies the type of photography where you demonstrate excellence. Any tips for me?

The yellow glow provides an excellent visual contrast to the passionate and warm red of the bottle brush flower. I have tried taking a few in the Caribbean but between the wind and the lighting conditions, I have not got anything half as good as this.

Tony,  thanks for your kind words.  I do have a thing for flowers, don't I?  I looked at this flower and thought, "I've seen so many of these photographed well, how can I make mine unique?"     You have an excellent eye for ice sculptures and landscapes, which I admire.  I'm just lucky to have flowers most of the year.
