This is a fascinating image to contemplate, first impressions tell me its a woman pole dancing using a lamp post, but its the combination of reflections that tell me this is just an illusion! Superb capture though!

Best Regards

Alf

You are my competitor ?....;-)).This is a beautiful result, I think it was done by merging two frames? If it is not a secret.... Let me know... in any event it is an original composition, and I will call it as I called one of my  dancing files   :" Life as a dance "..do you like the idea?....

what a photo, gunnar!  there is a great rythm and a great distribution of elements. seems shooted in a set, not in the street. but, after this, is an interesting concept, life around us, the man walking in the middle of others activities, as we do in our towns. clever photo. where did yous hoot it?

The imagination, creation and execution in this image is commendable. Very original and excellent photo.

Dear friends, thank you for stopping by and your comments! So much appreciated. Pnina, actually my idea was to compose this as a pole dancing, the same as Alf´s first impression, and on that way it is composed. But I like your idea "Life as a dance", as alternative. I am not yet sure what the title should be, this is why the image is still untitled, but the concept is about the pole dancing.

It is a single shot, there are no layers of two or more images nor other kind of manipulations. A simple single shot to the reflection from the glass. The image above gives a view from the place and understanding what it is. Taken in Philadelphia, at a concert hall.

Amazing shot! I am glad that it is a single shot, not two frames - somehow makes me feel good about photography. (I have nothing against photoshop - good art is good art, no matter how it is made). As for reflections in general: I think it is very catching. I like that too. Kind of different look at regular life. Congratulations, good job. I kind of cannot decide about the guy in red - whether he adds or distracts. Have you tried to change the colour of his jaket into ...say green? I would play around just to see. Anyways, it is a very interesting picture. Oh, and thank you for the details. Always good to know how and where. Best regards, Tamara

titillating toast-of-the-town ballerina; luv the ghostly spirit of it; hate the person in the red hoodie and sneakers (contaminates the image, and isn't your style. imho, Gunnar) ;-} dp

Nice idea...Lady looks like dragon flay to me...as a different, short but very beautiful appearance of life.

Regards to you!

It is clever work multiple exposure using only reflections in windows rather than doing it with your camera. If your camera has the possibility for double/multiple exposure in the first place (with/ in camera multiple exposure I find it is not always so easy, for example lighter over darker image and tones etc) Then if using Photoshop, Corel etc to superimpose two or more images as layers then it is more Graphics rather than just instant photography, as there are no real correlations in time fractions among other things. I also agree with some of the comments above that red hooded man/woman perhaps/does destract, yet a human element is helpful to this image... Anyway a very artistic image Congratulations.

Fine example how a crop does enhance a composition. All what you've done supports and highlights the thoughts you wanted to convey. Big compliments!

I could go on contemplating this image - a celebration of life and living - and quieting the turbulence of the mind leading to an inner peace. Wonderful!

I like this exercise of composition and imagination from your side

Maybe I agree with the comment about the boy dressed in red waking away which distract me a bit, although if we take into a count that is a street image the boy was a real situation into your frame, of course you can wait a minute leaving the boy out of the frame or erase via PS ,but in any case that topic will be something from your side like preferences or criteria because you maybe as a photographer don't like to remove nothing from the original scenery and this is good for me because obliges us to do continuous exercises of composition.

I like this mixture of graphic appearance and as a background an image not graphic

Photography as an art, imho don't need any title, I don't know if you are agree Gunnar or my colleagues, but in general the majority of us have the habit (and others the obsession) to put any title to the images, finding any or more sense to implement at the image,I think that is very important not forget that photography by itself must be express all that we want without titles... The image speakes by itself .By the way excellent job.Best regards

I'm late to this party but have taken few looks on this novel photo wondering how to approach this final result. Your open take to communicate with the visitors and supplying additional versions do help greatly to detect the creative process triggered by such scene like this. You made something out of it within the time you could afford, what you have told previously (in general during your visits around the world).

I'm not too keen to see that youngster with red top there, but on the other side his red adds contrast to the green shields above him (as to the overall tint of this photo). Some 10 steps earlier this could have been a totally different detail. The other detail I'm pondering is the position of the face of the poster lady over the window. Just think of it; if only you could have rised your camera higher up - but then again the overall composition, what had happened with the relationship with the pole and her legg... imagination running wild. Oh, well, after all this is ver much a trademark photo out of your sleeve having a dreamy feel.

Lovely work, Gunnar. The photo has a striking, graceful & yet a bit of a startling impact at the same time (because of the pole, I gather). I'm one who actually likes the red-dressed person in the photo, precisely for the reasons Markku stated above: ("his red adds contrast to the green shields above him (as to the overall tint of this photo") . Although I slightly regret the fact that the dancer's raised hind leg isn't totally shown here (as it may have enhanced the feeling of gracefulness even more), I understand your reasoning for this crop, having seen the black square advertisement...I think that you succeeded very nicely with this one.
