Shot taken just after sunrise with a zoom telephoto. Very high contrast

between egret and water behind. Wanted to stop action with no or little blow

outs on the bird - used hi shutter speed and ISO while keeping f-stop low to

get best shapness. (Zoomed so much I clipped one wing - will not zoom so

much next time if I get the chance)

Any suggestions on better settings? Thanks and best regards - Dave

Hi Dave,

A wonderful perspective and great results.

Technically spot on with the camera and lens settings, too.

A very dynamic capture.......... flaps down all the way. The story behind it goes a long way in explaining the image..... thanks for that.

Impressive..... well done.

Hi Dave,

Great shot! I agree with Grayham, this image is very dynamic. The birds bright white and sharp lines really pop out from the background. This must have been tough to capture - nice work! Thanks for sharing!

Very good to have the high shutter speed, I often made the mistake to be too concerned about raising the ISO. Very nice image.

Well done,

Ben

Interestng to read your exif information in relation to this image, it has worked really well. Wonderful dynamics, contrast and sharpness and no blown highlights! A resounding success, apart from the wing clipping that you have mentioned.  I don't condone too much manipulation with photoshop, but in this case I would consider "adding canvas" to the left of the birds wing just to balance it.  Very well done!

Best Regards

Alf
