Hi Gillie,

No requirement for using this 18mm lens setting at F/22.

ISO 500 ? You obtain better results from ISO 100 or 200.

Your lens and many other 18mm perform much better at F/5.6 or faster.

Best Regards,  Mike

Thanks Mike;  I thought I had stopped doing silly things like forgetting to check my ISO.  I had set it like that for a shot the previous evening, and...forgotten to change it.  I really thought I had it at 100, and I have a lot of trouble seeing the figures once the sun is up, I was having trouble seeing  the light meter, yesterday, even through the viewfinder.  I must buy a loupe.  Gillie

We have all done that before, I once spent an entire day in Liverpool UK ( my home city ) taking numerous street shots only to find later that I had the ISO at 2600 because I'd been messing about the night before and forgot to re-set.

Anyway what you have done here goes some way to combat the effect of the brightest of the suns rays. By placing the pier between, it effectively diffuses the harshest light and produces those great shadows and warm tones in the sand. The other attractive aspect of the light is the way it has illuminated the under side of the structure. In all honesty I think it has a lot going for it, the overall mood and atmosphere successfully communicates warm morning sun and the promise of a beautiful day.

Best Regards

Alf
