jeffl7 0 Posted March 13, 2012 My first thought was that the foreground seemed so dark. And then I realized that it is shadowed by the cloud overhead. The rain is rolling in, and the darkness is telling the tale. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 14, 2012 Very nice especially when viewed larger Linda. Impressive cloud formations, certainly ominous weather rolling in. I heard there were some 'some sandstorms' (?) out BC way the last few days. Did it affect you as well?Back to this composition, I think the time you took composing the shot was well worth the effort. I can almost see a 'huge face' in the clouds from the 'middle to the right'. Appears like it wants to 'swallow' the hillside.Nice work.Warmest regards, Gail Link to comment
jimpete 0 Posted March 15, 2012 Elegant Landscape. Love the clouds and compostition. Not usually a fence person, but the fence diagonal is prominent. Jim Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted March 16, 2012 Thank you all for the kind comments. It is always good to hear your thoughts. What I liked in this scene was the contrast of the grassy hill against the sky & clouds, the light and dark, airy vs. solid ground etc. The gentle curve of the fence winding it's way through the scene appealed to me. I seem to always be looking for S curves without really thinking about it. Best wishes,Linda Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted March 16, 2012 Great lines in this! I love how the hill slants down to the right while the clouds slant upward to the right, creating somewhat of a triangle. Then you have the fence line winding throughout tying it all together. Simple and great composition. Link to comment

alfbailey 3 Posted March 17, 2012 I really like the textures and colours of the foreground grasses and the touches of colour from the Gorse bushes. This can't have been an easy shot to compose and balance, but I think you have rose to the challenge admirably. Utilising the fence as a diagonal connection between foregound and clouds was a well thought out manoeuvre.Sincere ComplimentsAlf Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted March 19, 2012 Thanks so much for your great comment. I hadn't heard of "Gorse bushes" so I looked it up. I can see why you thought these were Gorse bushes, they look very similar. The bushes here are Sagebrush. Here's a close up of Sagebrush. It is very prolific in our part of the world. It is a very pretty but tough, silver coloured bush that blooms with yellow flowers in the fall. It has a wonderful fragrance.Best Wishes,Linda Link to comment
