These clouds were racing up from the south southwest but were alsobeing pushed off to the east by drier air--clouds moving as fast as Ihave ever seen high clouds move from that direction. Commentswelcome.

Hi Lannie,

A beautiful scene from Nature to greet anyone in the morning hours.

Nice presentation, too.

Best Regards,  Mike

Spectacular cloudscape accentuated further by the stark silhouetted trees. Very well done!

Thanks, everyone.  I looked out the window this morning to see the clouds flying up from what appeared to be the south--at the level of icy cirrus clouds, apparently being carried along by the sub-tropical jet stream.  The speed with which the clouds were being carried along was amazing.

Alf, the contrast is what I get from metering on the bright clouds, I suppose.  I did meter on other things, but the high-contrast treatment did give a certain graphic impact, arguably too much, but I rather liked it, and so that is what I posted.  It was actually quite bright outside, the sun having been up for perhaps an hour when this was shot.  The contrast makes it look much earlier.  No contrast was added, and no crop was made.  I only added a tiny bit of unsharp mask to the parent file for printing purposes.  Everything else was as it came out of the camera.
