there is something greatly appealing about this composition... this hand is of someone who is used to working with his hands, the way he's holding it is the way i would hold my cigarette... the construction of the frame is very pleasing with the hand emerging the way it does from the left, the "weathered" fingers seem relaxed and natural, the pencil's shadow winking out from right bottom draws me to an oblique stain on the wall which seems to parallel the pencil (and its shadow)... with tone and texture the hand stands out very well against the wall (which shines like quartz in the light...)

excellent and very original work without being pretentious...

Great composition and tones. The hand says a lot about the owner - probably talking  while holding out the pencil loosely. Regards.

Terrific subject and composition. The tonality and contrast are perfect and the negative space to the right with its texture serves to emphasize the hand. It makes the viewer wonder what the hand and pencil have or are about to achieve. Well seen and well captured.
