The ribbon of light water that leads in from the bottom left corner is the start of the journey towards that distant misty dimension. Love the B & W tones and backlighting. Very effectively put together and presented. I'm not a great fan of square format, but i have to say it works realy well with this composition. Great mood and atmosphere.

Sincere Compliments

A gorgeous B&W image Volker! Love the hard contrast, light, and detail you retained!

All the best in 2012,

I think you have handled th elighting in this image realy well, The composition is also very strong. For me the subtle tones in teh sand and cliff face are what works best. I think a little lighter in the ocean to the left of the monolith would work a bit better providing some balance in tone with that of the sand Regards Richard

Volker, This is really lovely. The light on the water in the foreground, and the rays of light over the main rock are really great. The B/W tones are excellent.

I remember the colour version of this shot which was outstanding. I think I preferred the colour for it's golden tones and depth but the BW is also very eyecatching and effective, the dark vignette works very well.

All the best, Dave.

Excellent photo - I prefer this version the colour version. B/W reduces the photo to it's essential elements and leaves more room for imagination.

Dear friends,

I'm very, very grateful to you for your comments! And I wish you and your loved ones a very Happy New Year! Thanks for your support here at PN over the last years and these latest comments!

@Alf I also felt a bit uneasy about the square format, but it is good to know that you like it as well! I agree it works here.

@Eric b&w can sometimes get the viewer's eyes focused on particular points / areas in an image, I tried this here, so, thanks for your this!

@Ruud Dear Ruud, I feel honored by your comment!

@ Paul Thx for your very encouraging comment and a Happy New Year to you as well!

@Evgeni it is my pleasure and many thanks!

@Neil I'm very grateful to you for your concrete comment! :)

@Richard John Will think about potential amendments you have mentioned, I agree, of course they are definitely worth it to be taken into account, will come up with some alterations accordingly!

@Tony Dear Tony, thanks a lot!

@Jamie :)) I'm delighted!

@William I'm absolutely grateful to you for the 7!!!

@Tommy I feel much honored!

@David There is may be a tradeoff among color and b&w here, I believe, you described it excellently.

@Wolfgang as you addresses the same issue, I do understand the pros and cons, I'm myself undecided. Anyway, thanks a lot for your interest and comment anyway. Very much appreciated, dear Wolfgang!

Thx again mates for your time and leaving so valuable notes!

Cheers, Volker
