Black and white version of a previous post. Economic differences are

evident in this urban and rural combination landscape taken on a hazy

morning after a night storm. This was taken in Laguna de Bay close to

Manila, the capital city. Foreground shows fishermen's way of living and

the background reveals the metropolis skyline. Thank you for viewing and

your remarks/comments are welcome.

Very impressive shot, Lester. The fog supports the distance and difference. Congratulations from me. Regards, Olaf

Beautiful image. I really like the tones you have achieved. A image that really shows a society at two speeds.  Really nice. Regards, Jean-Marc

A professional speaking capture! What make it special for me is its vivid message. Composition is exceptional and b/w conversion is awesome and top. Backdrop is decorated beautifully by a very apt haze in nice coordinance with the message of the photo, and finally very detailed and tack sharp quality...Bravo.

Excellent Lester, if I'm totally honest the thumbnail didn't really get my attention but I'm glad I clicked. Apart from the story of the old and the new I really like the difference in contrast between the foreground and the background. Could almost be indicative of a bias towards the good old ways.

Best wishes, Dave.

This is an excellent commentary of a social condition (most would call it a social problem).  I think rendering it in B&W is a good decision because it concentrates primarily on the forms of the buildings, which is the main reason for the photograph.  Your composition is superb, and I can see great interest in some organization wanting to publish this.  The haze around Manila is yet another story.

Superb in terms of contrast, content, composition and indeed social statement, it deserves every accolade it has attracted and more! Top marks Lester!

Best Regards
