I like the expression and the hair detail, the skin tones look natural and attractive,  but think it could be more effective without the earings, and maybe consider removing the white object at the top left corner. Beautiful model and very well captured!

Best Regards

Alf

I agree with Alf here, unless of course the shoot was to advertise earings.

Lovely Girl, love the freckles............... a sharper eye would have been nice.

Well done to both of you............

thank to everybody

Alf and Grayham think as you, although I do not like the earrings and I would gladly have done without .... but have you ever tried to criticize the look of a girl? :)

Niki,

She is a pretty girl. Her skin tone is very good. The contrast and color saturation is also very good. The background (except for the bothersome white in the upper left corner) is nicely neutral and she is well separated from it. I like the lighting and especially the specular highlights on her lips. Her make-up looks good. I also like her cute little freckles.

Grayham mentioned that he thought her eye could be sharper. Perhaps her right eye is a smidgen sharper than her left (?), but your focus looks good to me.

Her expression is interesting. She looks somewhat surprised and sexy, but she doesn't appear to be looking at the camera (viewer). If not making eye contact with the camera (viewer), the eyes should follow the line of the nose. It is natural to look where your head is pointing. If looking off to the side you should show what she is looking at or provide a reason that she is not looking where her head is pointing.

One catchlight per eye is preferred. The catchlight should be above the center of the pupil and mostly on the iris. A catchlight below the center of the pupil tells the viewer that the main light is coming from below the subject. This is usually not a natural location for a light.

The color of the background sort of goes with the color of her earring, but as has be mentioned, the bright blue of the earring does draw the viewer's attention away from your subject's face.

The compositional balance is very left heavy. Your subject should have more room in front of her than behind. This allows her to be facing into the picture, not out of it. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. By positioning the tip of her nose in the vertical center of the photograph you not only have her facing into the picture, but you also have good left and right compositional balance. The tip of her nose doesn't have to be exactly centered, but this gives you a good starting point from which to subtly adjust your composition to make it visually balanced. This little rule almost always works well.

Be careful of split profiles. You do not want the tip of her nose to come close to touching the far cheek line. You want to make sure the far eye is either completely showing or not showing at all. You do not want to have the bridge of her nose cut into her far eye.

Her shoulders look a bit pushed forward -- a little awkward looking. She would look better with a bit better posture.

The highlights on her right shoulder and clavicle area are a bit much. Those should be toned down a tad.

Nice shot,

Mark
