Have been following this old barn & car for 8 years but expect it has

some years to go. Thanks for looking Ross

Ross:  Great combo of old things.  I wonder if it would have more impact if you took out some of the unnecessary foreground and right side.  Nice shot.  Alan.

Hi Alan-Thanks for your comments. Chaos & randomness in nature really attracts me, so the grasses growing every which way really appeals to me.But, thankyou for taking the time to express your thoughts. Best Regards-Ross

Great capture of some of my favorite things.Like the rusty combo of the roof and the old Plymouth(I think) and great contrast with the grass. The overcast sky adds to the state of the abandon.Good clear shot.Bravo!

Salutations-Laurent

Nice shot Ross.....good color, great subject but I agree with Alan. I'd like to be closer to that car and fill the frame.

Hi Fred, appreciate your comments & thanks for taking the time to leave them. The reason I included the foreground grasses is they are thick, tall & growing every which way illustrating perfectly the chaos & ranndomness of growh in nature when you are out in the back fourty..Perhaps I like it because it is such a change from city life..Anyway, thanks again for visiting. Best Regards-Ross

All of the elements work very well together. Moody sky, stark line of trees, and of course those real character features of the barn and car. The foreground grasses do indeed express a sense of perfect chaos and wild abandonment, however I can see why Fred would like to see the car more prominently featured, it is after all a real gem of a find.

Very well done Ross!

Nice to hear from you Alf. Would love to know when the car was manufactured.. I do know it would be in my lifetime, unless it was before 1926..Well, it's certainly nice that eveybody has a different take on cropping images, otherwise it would be a boring pastime. Best Regards-Ross

Ross, you had a perfect sky for this shot.  While some have suggested other ways to crop or frame this, I think this is simply one of those places or subjects that has a great variety of possible compositions, all very different and all perfectly valid for the subject.  Your desire to have this random arrangement of grasses in the foreground is in harmony with the rest of the photo (and I like the weeds poking up on this side of the car).  I can also envision a close-up of a portion of the car with the barn in the background, or even perhaps a close-up of a portion of the barn with the car in the background.  Lots of possibilities with these inherently interesting elements.

Hi Stephen-Thanks for your comments on cropping & framing which I agree with completely. Is this not one of the great features of photography, you start with a basic image & all the choce & decisions you make in arriving at the final result makes this your image & yours alone..Howeveer, if you accept another viewers suggestions & incorporate them into your image, then the image is no longe yours but must be shared with somone else For these reasons the image I submit is mine, good or bad. This does not mean I do not appreciate comments, good or bad, I always seriously consider the advice received & add it to my knowedge base for possible future use Best Regards-Ross

I could spend an entire day photographing a subject like this and love every minute of it. Great find, and great photograph!

Great mood here- grey skies, bare trees, old barn and a worn out car.  Nice processing- the saturation of colours isn't severe but does keep the eye on the car/barn.  Where did you find these antiques?

Hi Martin-Thanks for taking the time to leave your comments. We have a cabin on a small lake about a three hour drive from our home 32 miles east of Toronto. This old barn is about a 30 minute drive from our cabin, have been visiting this old barn for a number of years & recording it's deterioration. There was 3 old cars on the property but this year they are all gone, hate to see them go, made great props.Best Regards-Ross
