My first visit to this place; the moon was icing on the cake. Comments

and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I have a very similar view of area of Zabriskie Point but at dawn. I must same that it takes on a completely different feel and look by moonlight. This is outstanding, Stephen, I guess I shouldn't put my camera away at dusk.

Leo, thanks for the comment.  Actually, the just-past-full moon is setting ahead of the sunrise, so this was taken prior to sunrise.  In fact, when I arrived it was very dark and the moon was well above the horizon.  I had the place to myself for a while, and then.....

Steve, I've pondered this image for a while now trying to work out how it could be improved. It occurs to me that a little less sky would do the trick. A crop from the top to just include the moonlight seems stronger to me.

Jeff, I can see your point.  BTW, this benefitted from ALCE.  I made the crop (but was a little uncertain about left-right orientation); it will take a day or so for this to get through the system.

Very good composition and different from others.  Love it.

We were there last weekend.  Best Regards,

I like everything about this one Stephen.  The texture and coolness of dawn gives it such a moody feel.  The horizon does seem a bit off though, tilting counter clockwise a little.  Anyway, lot's of depth to see here.

Stephen, this is beautiful.  I've never been to Death Valley and it definitely makes me want to visit.  What a beautiful photograph.  Thanks for sharing.
Best regards,

I made some changes based on suggestions from Jeff (cropped closer to the setting moon) and Steve (wow, that background really was tilted!).  In so doing, I decided that a 2:1 aspect ratio worked best, and that also had the benefit of reducing the prominence of the rock in the lower (I really don't need that adjective, do I!) left corner.  So all in all, I like the new version more for several reasons, and the feedback is much appreciated.  The original is attached.

It is very nice with the blue time and the moonset. I was around there, touring SW US, 2 years ago with a bunch of guys and we stopped only for a short time there, and I don't remember the name of it. Zabriskie Point? Can you recognise the image I ataching here, is it is the place, Zabriskie Point? It is taken with a 300mm lens. And it was an overcast day. Thank you Stephen.

Cheers.

Bela, that has so many elements of Zabriskie Point, but I don't recognize it.  I'll bet it's in the same general area.
