There are so many little anomalies in this image, it becomes more fascinating the longer I view it.  Coniferous tree with partially bare branches, coloured foliage with seemingly B & W branches which could be very clever selective colouring, yet I know it isn't. The result is an almost abstract pattern that is quite evenly spread that provides an atmosphere of autumn with almost tangible qualities.

Best Regards

Alf

Len, this ones a cracker. It really has a lot going for it. I love images like this showing the beauty of the natural world.

What I like in this one is the difference of form and order as well as color in nature. The order of the green/yellow beautiful arranged flowers and the grey untidiness/extensive twigs and branches, once colorful and now dead .

Very nice composition,with a saying.

What first caught my eye was the different & unusual colours.  The other elements you mention may have been in my subconscious awareness but I don't recall thinking about them at the time.  I think we could coin a sub category by calling this one a 'Natural Abstract'.   Best, LM.

I knew at the moment I took this one it would be among my favourites of the day.  Turns out it made the top two which I have printed for my sample album of 8.5" x 11" size.  I knew you'd be along so I framed it square just for you.  :-)  Kidding.  All the elements just seem to fit better in a square and I'm a firm believer in letting the image determine the framing and not the other way around.   Best, LM.

All those features plus the unusual colour pattern involved had a bearing on my decision to take this photograph.  Thanks for your validation on my compositional decision.  Best, LM.

Those are the things that caught my eye.  I agree it's partially abstract, partially nature.  Thanks for your thoughts.  Best, LM.

The colours are in harmony and has a beautiful rhythm. Really as you said Len, this view should be considered as a very nice photograph subject. Best regards

Thanks for your comment validating my decision to take this one.  Some shots you have to work hard with and some just jump out at you.  This one was in the latter category.  Best, LM.

Very nice shot. I have never seen anything quite like this. My first impression was that you have done some selective colouring, and then I came to realise that it is very much natural ! The colourful foliage in the seemingly monotone branches sure looks unique. Thanks for sharing :-)

Sincere regards.

It was the unique colour scheme that initially caught my eye.  What was a photographer to do?  :-)  Thanks for taking the time.  Best, LM.

Hi Len, I want to add my compliments to the above photo. Lovely work -- It is a beautiful overall effect indeed. I like the way you cropped it in a square format as well, as it somehow focuses more attention on the (brightly colored) details. I too almost tend to look at the photo as something of an abstract.... Very nicely done! Best Marjolein  -- PS: Did you print this yet (large..?)

Thanks for your kind comments.  This one was originally of horizontal framing but I cut some off each end, the center seeming to be where all the action was.  I've tagged this one a 'natural abstract' and no one has called me on it yet.  I have indeed printed this one though only to  8" x 8".  I'd have to farm it out to make anything larger.  Best, LM.

Very nice work Len,  the random "splish-splash" of nature is captured beautifully here.

We don't see this sort of thing on coniferous trees out here.  Is this typical or a result of unfortunate forces?

Good of you to stop by & comment.  Typical?  Possibly, but I don't remember ever seeing such a display on a coniferous tree.  We had a hot dry summer this year which may have been a factor but I'm only hazarding a guess here.  Anyway, it stood out against the other trees so I felt it worth investing at least a frame.  Best, LM.

Thanks for dropping by.  Yes, the colours are all important here.  I've tried a B&W conversion but couldn't get it to work for me.  Best, LM.

Hi Len,

You got here a very interesting and appealing natural pattern! As I can see the colors are real and the whole picture seems to be real and again with so much painterly in it. Very well done my Friend!

Len - a wonderful capture of something from the natural world. Sometimes the urge to tinker with an image is there with some images and this is one and i am wondering why and i am not quite sure. I am attracted to the variation in colors: green, orange, yellow and a tiny tinge of red.  This is the star attraction for me. In my mind I played out several crops and finally I came back to the original and concluded that I like it 'as is'.

Thanks for stopping by one of my images recently,

This one has already been cropped.  Originally a horizontal offering I felt it presented better as a square.  Thanks for your impressions.  Best, LM.
