alfbailey 2 Posted September 23, 2011 I am away for a few days now, and thought I'd post something before I went........this one was chosen because although I've got quite few similar shots......I still like it.......and also the real reason....I didn't have any others processed : - ) Your thoughts and observations are always appreciated. Thank You. Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted September 23, 2011 I can see why you like this one Alf! Beautiful blues, and oranges, excellent composition, the line of piles leads the eye into the sunset naturally, and a superb foreground. Well done guy!All the best,Neil Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 23, 2011 Indeed there is silence within the place but your image speak loud for its quality, the time of the day been well utilized to end with an image of this great appearance and with this remarkable lighting, the slow shutter effect on the water smoothness is another great factor here while the DOF well maintained sharpness all over this amazing place, the colors of this time of the day are well enhancing the beauty and adding to the well thought off composition.Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best. johnroberts 0 Posted September 23, 2011 I spent so much of my youth in Llandulas and this beautiful image takes me back to great times. The stones, which are such a feature at Llandulas and are beautifully captured in the foreground with the line of groynes taking the eye out to the horizon. Excellent low light colours.regards.......John Link to comment
hamidfarzandian 0 Posted September 23, 2011 Nice photo and equally attractive! I personally love landscape photos with sharply detailed f/g elements, like here with these finely detailed boulders at f/g. Except for slight color aberration at left near wooden bars, all the shot and its composition, as well as prominent blue hue are amazing and exceptional for me. Bravo.Hamid. Link to comment
benhuybrechts 0 Posted September 24, 2011 Hello Alf,Very nice scene, the title fits the image. The motion blurring of the sea and the poles going into the sea make this a very nice image.Well done,Ben Link to comment
drkallol 0 Posted September 24, 2011 Fantastic shot with amazing dreamy tonality.Well choosen POV to make a great composition with those poles which perfectly fits with the title. Thanks for sharing it.My best regads.Kallol Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted September 24, 2011 This sort of composition has been taken many times but this must rank as one of the best I've seen...well done mate! Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted September 24, 2011 I was tempted to comment very much like Keith above (seen this before etc.) but then the wonderful light you captured on those stones got my attention. I have not seen it done this way! A very fine image!Regards, Tibi Link to comment

sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted September 25, 2011 Hi Alf. This has to be my favourite series of your work. Love the light playing on the rocks, the cool blues and the wooden posts leading your eye into that lovely sky. Into my favourites it goes! Warm regards. Sarah. Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted September 26, 2011 Very nice work Alf. I love the color tones and your composition. There is a feeling of peacefulness and serenity in this image. I may have considered cropping just a hair of the sky and moving the horizon line a bit higher (see my suggestion) to give more impact to the foreground, but that's a question of taste. Excellent image. Regard - michel Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted September 26, 2011 My eye follows the line of the wooden poles, and it makes the shot for me. It simulates how I feel when walking into the ocean and the floor gradually drops until I'm up to my neck; it's exciting, fun and a bit whoa...I'm in deep! I love the expanse of the sky to admire. The glistening rocks are attractive. They beckon the viewer in like window dressing, but those poles lead the viewer in. A lovely shot! Take care, Donna Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted September 26, 2011 Never a need to apologize for taking several of the same kind of shot......not when they look like this! The shutter speed you've chosen is perfect and leaves the water kind of milky, yet not out of focus. I love the light on the rocks and the way the posts lead the eye into the beautiful sky. Yet the sky isn't SO colorful to compete with the foreground. It all makes a wonderful composition. If I hadn't read the suggestion to crop a bit of the sky, it would never have occurred to me. But I do think I prefer just a tiny bit cropped away. I read that you'll be away for a few days. I hope that means more photos are coming our way! :-) Link to comment
tonyfrench 0 Posted September 26, 2011 Alf, as other have mentioned I like the line of posts descending into the water, along with the arrangement of rocks in the foreground. The golden touches in the sky are a nice counter point to the rich blues in the foreground. Link to comment
tamaramar 0 Posted September 27, 2011 I really like the colours. It's silver-blue smooth water with silver-grey colour of the stones that do the magic. Great combination of God's creation and a Master of photography. All the best, Alf. Tamara Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted September 27, 2011 NEILMany thanks for your visit and encouraging feedback, much appreciated. I think Jackson would like it here ........cool his hooves off : - )Cheers NeilAlfRASHEDSincere thanks for generous analysis and feedback. This location has dozens of these posts, so its just a case of finding the right combination of light and composition. Long exposures can vary considerably from shot to shot, the light conditions changing rapidly within a 30 minute window of opportunity, but sometimes I get lucky.Best RegardsAlfRUUDMany Thanks for your visit and positive feedback, much appreciatedBest RegardsAlfMIKEMany thanks for your visit and kind words, the lens is one of my favorites too.Best RegardsAlfPATSY Many thanks for your interest and positive feedback, very much appreciated.Best RegardsAlfJOHN I love this location, the stones and groynes seem to create an infinate variety of possible shots and I seem to come away with something different every time I visit. It must have been a great place to spend your younger days John. Sincere thanks for your invaluable feedback, very much appreciated.Best RegardsAlfHAMIDSincere thanks for your interest and valuable feedback, very much appreciated. I didn't notice the colour aberration, but I did make one big mistake and no one seems to have noticed. The very bottom of the image has a small margin that has been mirrored, I forgot to crop it when making adjustments. Always good to hear from you HamidBest WishesAlfBEN Many Thanks for your observations and positive feedback, much appreciated!Best RegardsAlfKALLOLSincere thanks for your interest and feedback. Yes you guessed it was the poles that inspired the title......the way they gradually submerge.Best RegardsAlfKEITH I know its probably a very cliched shot now, but I try to make an improvement every I take one, and it would seem its working. Sincere Thanks Keith, your feedback means a lot.Best RegardsAlfTIBIAnd I would answer pretty much as I have to Keith......the foreground stones were an essential element for me in this one and I managed to capture the light, the conditions changed rapidly though and I only managed another two shots with this kind of foreground detail. Sincere thanks for your feedback Tibi.Best RegardsAlfFALAKThank you for your interest and kind words, much appreciated.Best WishesAlfSARAHSincere thanks for your most encouraging words, I'm truly honoured that you consider this a favourite. Thank You!Warmest RegardsAlfMICHELMany thanks for your interest and posiitve feedback, much appreciated. I like the subtle crop you made, it does serve to balance the image a bit more.......you didn't spot the deliberate mistake at the bottom of the image....well ok it wasn't deliberate : - ) ...I just forgot to crop it after making some adjustments.Best RegardsAlfDONNA"Up to my neck in it" usually describes my predicament in all sorts of ways : - ) But yes I love your analysis, it was the perfect gradual line that also attracted me to that particular line of posts too. But I think I just got lucky with the light on the foreground rocks, though it didn't last, it was there for seconds then gone. Sincere thanks for your feedback Donna, always a pleasure to read.Kind RegardsAlfCHRISTALI know what you mean, but I'm ever sensitive about boring people with the same kind of stuff. I think this was 8 seconds at f16, I mostly use f22 in these low light situations to extend the exposure time as much as possible, but I was experimenting, and this one seemed about right. I have to admit the crop of the sky didn't occur to me either but I do think it's a positive one and I like it.I didn't take any photo's I'm afraid, it was the boys long weekend away, it was fishing and beer.....then more beer :- ) I'm recovering slowly, but I'll have to check my spelling : - ) Great to hear from you Christal I hope you are keeping well, and sincere thanks for all of your kind words and feedback.Best RegardsAlfTONY HI'm very pleased you liked it. Thank you!Best RegardsAlfTONY FMany thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. There were dozens of lines of posts at this location, it took a while to find one with a perfect gradual line, most of them are falling over or at odd angles. They do make for a never ending source of subject matter though.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted September 27, 2011 I know what you mean, it kind of reminded me of moonlight, but I assure you it was mostly gods work, I just there at the righ time and clicked the button : - ) Good to hear from you and thank you sincerely for your feedback.Cheers Tamara!Alf Link to comment

melloncollie 0 Posted September 27, 2011 exposure and composition perfectly mastered. the blue hues are lovely. an outstanding image. if i look closely, i see some double mirroring effect on the lower edge, i am not sure what it is, maybe my browser dont load in the picture properly. best regards!
